Central Drug Institute Ties Up With 2 Mncs

BSCAL

CDRI director, Dr V P Kamboj, said the MNCs have approached them after CDRI decided to enter into new areas of research.

So long CDRI has been concentrating on developing drugs on family welfare and tropical diseases.

The decision has now been taken to venture into new areas which include osteroporosis, memory disorders, immunomodulators, liver disorders and wound healing drugs.

Kamboj declined to name the two MNCs which they have tied up with.

He also declined to quote the amount the MNCs would pump into the research projects and the type of work the MNCs want them to undertake. This is business secret, Kamboj said.

He, however, added that CDRI is negotiating with a number of MNCs for development of drugs in its traditional areas of research, family welfare and tropical diseases.

In the family welfare areas the CDRI research has already made some inroads.
