Cotton Exporters Demand Release Of Bengal Deshi

Exporters have also demanded that to avoid under/over invoicing in cotton exports, they should be allowed to export cotton after thorough scrutiny of invoices, prices and the buying parties by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the enforcement directorate and the textile commissioner. During 1995-96 season, the government released the total export quota of 15.65 bales, of which 3 lakh bales were allotted to private trade and 2 lakh bales to modern ginning units, and 10.65 lakh bales was given to federations. Maharashtra Cooperative Marketing was allotted an export quota of 4.20 lakh bales out of the total export quota of 15.65 lakh bales.
