Frank Wisner Elected To Enron Board Of Directors

BSCAL

Former US ambassador to India Frank Wisner has been elected to the board of directors of Enron Oil and Gas Company (EOG), the parent company of Enron Corporation.

We are extremely pleased to have Frank Wisner, who brings an exceptional foreign service experience with international business markets, said Forrest Hoglund, CEO and EOG chairman. Hoglund said Wisners addition to the board would be invaluable to the company as we pursue our strategic goal of layering earnings growth from international projects on top of increasing earnings from North America.

Along with Wisner, three Enron executives were made members of the EOG board. They are Jeffrey K Skilling, president and CEO of Enron Corporation, Ken L. Harrison, vice chairman of Enron Corporation, and James V Derrick, Enrons senior vice president.

Officials of Houston-based Enron said the company expects to benefit from Wisners election to the board because of his invaluable knowledge of international protocol through more than 35 years of US foreign service experience in Asia and Africa.

Wisners career with the foreign service and the state department began following his graduation from Princeton University. Wisner, who was US Ambassador to India from 1994 to 1997, has also served as Ambassador to the Philippines, Egypt and Zambia.

His assignments in Washington have included postings as under secretary of defence for policy, under secretary of state for international security affairs, senior deputy assistant secretary for African affairs, director of plans and management in the bureau of public affairs and director of the office of southern African affairs. He has also worked in Vietnam, Algeria, Tunisia and Bangladesh.

Wisner, who is currently vice chairman of the American International Group, now lives in New York City.
