German Bank Union Threatens Strike

German retail, banking and insurance union HBV yesterday threatened banks with strikes if they carried out their plan to implement a cut in sick pay following a recent change in labour laws. A union spokesman said the HBV was outraged" at the banking employers' announcement earlier on Thursday that the cut would come into force for bank workers on October 1 or November 1 at the latest.
