It To Go Ahead With Mahato Prosecution

The income-tax department will go ahead with the prosecution of former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Shailendra Mahato under the Income Tax Act, even as Mahto prepares to record his statement before a court here. If the court allows Mahato to turn approver in the case, he will be exempted from prosecution in the bribery case. Sources said the evidence gathered by the department are sufficient to negate the former MP's claims that the money found in his account and that of three party colleagues belonged to the party.
