Key Shares Up

BSCAL

The new account trading on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) yesterday began on a steady note with select key scrips attracting brisk support. Brokers said the trading in general was somewhat sluggish as buyers were exercising caution to extend commitments.

This was primarily due to the absence of active support from foreign funds which were keeping a low profile induced by the election related uncertainties.

The overall turnover remained low. The 50-share CSE index moved between 98.42 points and 97.41 points before closing at 97.70 points gaining 0.32 points. ACC was quoted at Rs 1,233.00 and Tisco at Rs 121.60 with ITC traded at Rs 630,00, Tata Tea at Rs 422, SBI-new at Rs 241, RIL at Rs 152.40, HLL at Rs 1,533, Bata at Rs 143.40 and Telco at Rs 236.90. Castrol evoked active support to score gains but it closed lower at Rs 676. Hind motor finished at Rs 10.50, CESC at Rs 25.30, L&T at Rs 198, Bajaj Auto at Rs 534.50, LML at Rs 111.50, Hindalco at Rs 596.40 with Jaiprakash taken at Rs 8.90, ITC Bhadrachalam at Rs 26.10 and Indo Gulf at Rs 32.25.
