Mediacorp Plans Local Channel By September

Singapore-based MediaCorp News will launch its regional news and information channel, Channel NewsAsia, in India by September-end. The company will form an independent local arm in a year's time, said Shaun Seow, the chief executive officer of MediaCorp News.
"We will eventually form an alliance with an Indian production house or entertainment company in order to source the funds for our future plans. We are looking to build a strong company that would interest Indian investors or may take the route of getting listed," Seow said.
He indicated that the Indian operations will be more on the lines of CNBC India, wherein the parent will own the brand while the country operations will be managed by the local partner.
