Pentafour Software and Exports has made it to the entertainment big league in Hollywood.

The Chennai-based companyis among the few companies world-over that specialises in computer-derived animation and three-dimensional (3D) graphics for movies.

The company has just completed a six-minute pilot shoot for one of the biggest banners in filmdom - Walt Disney.

The pilot is on the television version of Walt Disney's famed story of 101 Dalmatians.

While the bigger project of making the entire television series itself has not yet been awarded, the breakthrough itself is a major achievement and it augurs well for getting the entire project itself, industry sources say.

Pentafour, as is well-known, has established a name for itself in muti-media related activities and prides in having done 26 minutes of special effects _ the longest ever for a movie _ in the history of world cinema.

This, for the recently-released Tamil movie , Jeans.

Talking to Business Standard, Pentafour managing director S Chandrarsekar, however, points out that the special effects for a movie is much more lucrative than doing television series.

While movie contracts can earn anything between $3million to $7 milion, it is $200,000 to $300,000 for each episode of a serial aired on television.

Normally, television series run for 13, 26 or 52 episodes.

Walt Disney specialises in two-dimensional animation which requires more artistic skills while 3D effects have more to do with software knowledge, Chandrasekar says.

Other projects the company has on hand include projects for entertainment companies based in Japan and Singapore. The titles are: King Monk, 5 Heroes and 100 Villains.
