Reliance And Essar Bag Fresh Blocks For Oil Hunt

The names of the successful bidders were cleared here yesterday by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

Under the seventh round of bidding, the CCEA cleared the names of Rexwood Corporation-Oakland Oil Company (CB-ON/1 and AA-ON/3 blocks), Essar Oil (CB-ON/3), Opseis Inc (CB-ON/4 and CB-ON/5), Phoenix Overseas Ltd (GK-ON/4) and Reliance Industries (SR-OS-94/1).

Under the eighth round, the seven blocks that have been awarded are: AA-ON/4 and AA-ON/6 (Occidental International Exploration and Production Company), AAP-ON-94/1 (Hindustan Oil Exploration Company-General Fibres), AA-ON/7 (Assam Company-Medallion Company), CR-ON-90/1 (Essar-HOEC), BB-OS/8 (Reliance-Enron), and KG-ON/1 (L&T-Tullow Oil-Joshi Technologies).

The CCEA has approved the award of two small-sized discovered fields offered in the first round of developmental bidding. Selan Exploration Technologies has been given the Karjisan oilfield, while Modhera gas field has gone to Interlink Petroleum Ltd.

 

The GSPC-HOEC-AMEC-Heritage consortium has bagged six of the nine fields awarded in the second round.
