Scrips Decline Marginally On Subdued Sentiment

The market sentiment was rather subdued as major scrips witnessed a marginal decline on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday.

The NSE-50 opened at 910.32 points, it touched a high of 915.39 points, and reached a low of 904.95 points before closing at 906.68 points, losing 2.61 points over the previous close of 909.29 points.

The net traded value was Rs 979.80 crore while the net traded quantity was 485.74 lakh shares. Hectic activity was observed in the counters of SBI (Rs 336.35 cr), ITC (Rs 240.94 cr), Tisco (Rs 151.75 cr), Reliance Industries (Rs 125.83 cr), BSES (Rs 18.19 cr), Telco (Rs 16.84 cr), Larsen and Toubro (Rs 15.16 cr), ACC (Rs 13.80 cr), Bajaj Auto Ltd (Rs 8.51 cr), ICICI (Rs 5.04 cr), Gujarat Ambuja (Rs 3.35 cr), Oriental Bank (Rs 3.09 cr), Tata Power (Rs 2.97 cr), MTNL (Rs 2.05 cr), Orchid Chemicals (Rs 1.96 cr), IPCL (Rs 1.83 cr), BPCL (Rs 1.46 cr), Lakme Ltd (Rs 1.4 cr), Steel Authority (Rs 1.31 cr), the Bank of Rajasthan (Rs 1.1 cr), National Aluminium (Rs 0.87 cr), Adani Exports (Rs 0.85 cr), Eveready Inds (Rs 0.67 cr), IDBI (Rs 0.51cr) and TVS-Suzuki (Rs 0.50 cr). The top five gainers were Panchmahal Cement, Paras Petrofis, Gujarat Cotex, Creditcapital Venture and Ian Eseda Inds. Losers included Ambuja Electrocasting, Kanoria Chemicals, Kraft Indus, SKS Ltd and Videocon Leasing.

 

The share prices decreased marginally on lack of buying support from financial investors on the Over the Counter (OTC) Exchange of India.

The OTC composite index closed at 99.45 points as against its previous close of 100.05 points, losing 0.60 points. The total turnover at OTC was Rs 57.63 lakh, involving 4.71 lakh shares and debentures.

Major contribution was from the listed equities segment contributing Rs 57.47 lakh. In the other segments, listed debentures contributed Rs 8,310.
