Sisspa Plans Cooperative To Buy Cotton

The South India Small Spinners Association (Sisspa) has decided to start its own society to directly buy the required cotton for association members.
South India Small Spinners Association president, A V Ramaraj, told reporters here that the small spinners, who were now at the mercy of the mediators for cotton requirements, had been badly hit by the erratic behaviour of cotton prices for the past three years.
The proposal was at the final stage and the association would directly buy the cotton from the Maharashtra Cotton Federation and distribute to about 1,000 small spinners in the state, he said.
