Star Talks With Ndtv For Business Channel On

Rupert Murdoch-controlled Star TV's Indian subsidiary, News TV India Ltd (NTIL), has said it has held discussions with Prannoy Roy's NDTV for a proposed business news channel.
"Discussions between News TV India (Star India) and NDTV have been going on over the past six months regarding a possible business channel," News TV India chief executive Peter Mukerjea told Business Standard in an official communication.
However, Mukerjea added that there is no time frame which has been discussed for the business news channel. Star India has further confirmed that NDTV-produced news bulletins aired on Star Plus are being phased out.

"Star Plus is becoming a 100 per cent Hindi entertainment channel and as such we are removing STAR News at 9 pm and Hindi News at 7 pm," Mukerjea said.
According to Mukerjea, NDTV produces bulk of the content that appears on STAR News and `the websites owned by each of us have similar application'.
Mukerjea further said NDTV is not stopping promotion of ndtv.com on Star News channel, but in his statement, Mukerjea has not denied that it had been `communicated' to NDTV that it should stop the promotion of ndtv.com on Star News as reported in Business Standard earlier this month.
