Surya Roshni : A Saga Of Success

Growing from strength to strength the company today, is the largest producer of ERW pipes in the country. A house hold name, "Prakash Surya" brand enjoys significant customer preference in almost all the regions of country, right from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka. Extensively used in almost all the applications the pipes are specially suited for extraction and transportation of water, gas and oil as well as for structural purposes like scaffolding and tubular structures. Serving the vital sectors of the economy including petroleum, construction, agriculture etc the pipes confirm to stringent domestic and international specifications including American Petroleum Institute grades.

 

In a market flooded with sub standard goods, impeccable quality is the hallmark of the "Prakash Surya" pipes. Due to its quality adherence, the company has been licensed by the American Petroleum Institute to produce the most stringent API grade pipes. Company has also got ISO 9002 accreditation for Steel Pipes and Cold Rolling Strips.

The steel pipes and tubes industry, like the over all industrial scenario, has been facing difficult market conditions. Most of the units are facing diminishing margins and some have already closed down. Even during these trying times, Surya Roshnis Bahadurgarh unit has posted a commendable and enviable performance with 15 % growth in turn over within first five months of the year. " Our success is mainly due to the quality of the products we offer and the constant up-gradation of the existing product range" says Mr. J. P Agarwal, Vice Chairman, Surya Roshni Limited. "We do not think that the present quality certifications by various organisations are enough, our attempt is to reach higher levels of quality standards" he asserts.

According to Mr. Agarwal the strengths of the Company lie in its high standard of quality, its well dispersed marketing network, and a highly motivated work-force. As a result, company has established a loyal client base throughout the country. .

Speaking about the quality control measurers that are taken at various plants Mr. Agarwal says that a modern quality control and R&D unit constantly monitor, production process starting from raw material stage till finishing to ensure that the quality of the products is the best and no compromise is made on that front.

Not content with its achievements, Surya Roshni is planning further expansion into higher diameter pipes including 18 and 20 inches pipes as well as higher grades API 5L X52 pipes.

In the lighting industry Surya Roshni is the largest domestic manufacturer of Fluorescent Tube Lamps. In addition tubular glass shells, filament, GLS lamp, Lead in glass, HPSVL & HPMVL and auto halogen lamps are also manufactured. The "SURYA" brand name is very well known in India and abroad. Suryaa lightening products are exported to about forty countries including the developed countries..

Mr. Agarwal, is the Chairman of All India Manufacturers Organisation (Northern Region) and also the President of Federation Of Engineering Industries of India (FEII). He is also the Chairman of Steel Tube Panel (FEII).

In addition to business activities, Mr. J. P Agarwal is also keenly engaged in social and welfare activities. " We do not believe in just making profits. We have a social obligation to fulfil" says Mr. Agarwal. He is the Chairman of Surya foundation , a research, social and training institute which undertakes research for government and private agencies. It also conducts welfare and social developmental work as besides housing a management development institute near Delhi.
