Tisco Records 10.67% Q1 Sales Rise

Tata Steel has posted a 10.67 per cent increase in total sales during the first quarter of the current fiscal to 580481 tonne as compared to 524520 tonne in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Domestic sales during the first quarter rose by 10.53 per cent to 476168 tonne as compared with 430814 tonne last year.
Exports during the period under review moved up by 11.32 per cent to 104313 tonne as compared to 93706 tonne last year.

Average sales per day also logged a growth of 10.67 per cent to 6379 tonne as compared with 5764 tonne in the first quarter of 1997-98.
Growth in sales has resulted in a corresponding reduction of overall stocks during the period. Domestic stocks, however, have increased by 4.31 per to 93804 tonne as compared to 89926 tonne in the corresponding period last year.
Stocks in associated companies have declined by 3.97 per cent to 22159 tonne as compared to 23075 tonne last year. Export stockyard stocks also saw a decline of 45.72 per cent to 27000 tonne as compared to 49740 tonne in 1997-98.
Total stocks of the company dropped by 12.15 per cent to 142963 tonne as compared with 162741 tonne in the corresponding period last year.
The average decrease in stocks per day stood at 20.62 per cent to 22 tonne per day as compared to 28 tonne per day last year.
