Warrant Issued Against Dcp For Ignoring Court Summons

THE HINDUSTAN TIMES

Bailable warrants have issued against Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police, (South), Sudhir Yadav by a Delhi Court for failing to appear despite having summons being issued by the court.

Issuing the warrant, Metropolitan Magistrate, Mr Daya Prakesh, directed Mr Yadav to appear before the court on 7 April. Mr Yadav has to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 5000.

Earlier, the court had directed Mr Yadav to investigate two of his officers who in-spite of court orders had failed to register a case against erring officials of south Delhi nursing home which had refused to hand over the dead body of patient under going treatment there.

The court is hearing a case where a 18 year-old patient died in a private nursing home in South Delhi Private when operated upon. The complainant, brother of the deceased, Ram Dhiraj Singh who was also employee of the nursing home, told the court that his sister was admitted to hospital to have stones in her Gall Bladder removed.

He alleged the first operation conducted on July 22, 1992 was not successful because of negligence of the doctors hence , his sister was operated upon the second time within three days on July 26.

The patient, however, did not survive the second operation. Even though his sister died at the nursing home, authorities refused to hand over the body to him. Instead, he was asked to pay Rs 1.06 lakh.

He further told the court that when the authorities refused to hand over the body he called the police which took the body away for post-mortem.

He also told the court that local police officials had been influenced by the nursing home staff.

On Ram Dhiraj Singh's submission that local police was mixed with the nursing home and had refused to investigate the case, the court had directed Mr Yadav to investigate the matter and submit a report.

Mr Yadav, however, had failed to appear before the court.
