Intel, the world's largest chip-maker and a leading manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products, has announced the introduction of Intel vPro technology, a new platform brand targeting business and IT customers. Intel vPro technology is slated to be launched in the second half of this year.
Addressing the media, Amar Babu, managing director, sales and marketing (South Asia), Intel Technology India Private Limited, said, "Most companies spend 89 per cent of their IT spend on routine maintenance and 11 per cent on innovation. However, Intel vPro technology can provide benefits of built-in-management, proactive security and energy efficient performance thus enabling less amount of time spent on routine maintenance and more on innovation."
According to Babu, 87 per cent of the PC-support incidents can be fixed remotely and 13 per cent via desk-side visit, which includes problems like infected system, configuration uncertainty, and unbootable operating system. "However, the costs involved in sorting out the 13 per cent of the problems is 46 per cent of the total PC support costs. Intel vPro technology includes the second generation of Intel Active Management Technology that can help in auditing a powered-down system, remotely repair it and securely wake and update it," he added.
With regard to security, the technology helps in identifying an infected PC and isolates it from the network for repair, Babu said. Intel has planned the launch of this brand through collaborations with software companies and PC system manufacturers across the globe.
