Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the Narendra Modi government is spending Rs 89,000 crore for tribal welfare when compared to Rs 24,000 crore during the Congress-led UPA dispensation. He was addressing the 'Kol Mahakumbh' on the occasion of Shabri Mata Jayanti in Satna in Madhya Pradesh, where Assembly polls are to be held at the end of the year and Scheduled Tribes make up a sizable part of the electorate. "The Congress government used to spend Rs 24,000 crore for the development of tribal communities. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this figure has gone up to Rs 89,000 crore," he said. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach poll-bound Nagaland on Monday on a two-day visit. Shah will address a rally in Mon around 3.30 pm, BJP candidate of the Mon Town seat Cheong Konyak told PTI. "We are expecting a crowd of more than 10,000," he said. Fourteen civilians, including six daily wagers working at a coal mine, were shot dead in a series of firings by security forces in Mon district in December 2021 in a botched anti-militancy operation, triggering a nationwide outrage. Konyak said Shah will meet leaders of civil society organisations on Tuesday, though he did not specify which groups he will be meeting. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said children must set their life targets in school in order to achieve them, Speaking to students of a school in Kolhapur, Shah said his wife was from the western Maharashtra city and studied in a local school. "Life targets should be finalised during school days. This would help you to overcome your life's challenges, Otherwise those challenges would affect your journey," he said. Even if one sets a very high goal in life, it can be achieved with good habits, Shah asserted.
