Most AI tools 'hallucinate'; not meant for Indian MSMEs : Vexoo Labs

Most artificial intelligence systems suffer from the flaw of 'hallucination' and are not meant for India's small enterprises in manufacturing sector, deep-tech company Vexoo Labs has said and claimed its AI solutions are for the "real world". "The focus on factual accuracy is both rare and crucial," said Ajay Kumar, Senior Business Leader, AI Evangelist and a Board Advisor at Vexoo Labs. He said most AI tools today are built for showcase, not for reliability. In the industrial alleys of Rajkot, the looms of Tiruppur, and the machining units of Coimbatore, India's small and mid-sized manufacturers are facing a silent crisis, he noted. "It's not rising input costs or labour shortages alone - it's the growing complexity of data, and the absence of any reliable AI system to help make sense of it," Kumar told PTI on the sidelines of Super AI, a mega exhibition and conference held June 18-19. According to Kumar, despite the global boom in artificial intelligence, "most systems on the .

AI chatbots that reason emit more carbon than ones with simple reply: Study

A study found that carbon emissions from chat-based generative AI can be six times higher when responding to complex prompts, like abstract algebra or philosophy, compared to simpler prompts, such as high school history. "The environmental impact of questioning trained (large-language models) is strongly determined by their reasoning approach, with explicit reasoning processes significantly driving up energy consumption and carbon emissions," first author Maximilian Dauner, a researcher at Hochschule Mnchen University of Applied Sciences, Germany, said. "We found that reasoning-enabled models produced up to 50 times more (carbon dioxide) emissions than concise response models," Dauner added. The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Communication, evaluated how 14 large-language models (which power chatbots), including DeepSeek and Cogito, process information before responding to 1,000 benchmark questions -- 500 multiple-choice and 500 subjective. Each model responded to 100

India emerging as key hub for data centres, chip manufacturing: Moody's

Developed and emerging economies in East and Southeast Asia are key targets for AI investments, with India, Singapore and Malaysia rapidly establishing themselves as prime destinations for data centre projects or chip manufacturing, Moody's Analytics said on Wednesday. In its report titled AI Is Beating the Odds, Moody's Analytics said at a time when cross-border investment is slowing and global trade is fracturing, spending on artificial intelligence (AI) is powering against the current. "Even though trade and geopolitical tensions are knocking economies, soaring AI demand is outpacing supply. To close the gap, global investors are pouring capital into data centres and semiconductor projects," it said. The report further said that the US share of outbound AI investment outpaces its inbound share, a sign that US tech giants are expanding their global footprint. "Developed and emerging economies in East and Southeast Asia are key destinations. In particular, India, Singapore and ...
