The BJP on Wednesday claimed Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was busy playing a game on his mobile phone during a Congress meeting over selection of candidates for the upcoming assembly polls as he knows his party will not retain power in the state. Reacting to it, Baghel said he will continue to play traditional games of the state as well as 'Candy Crush', which he said is his favourite, and that it for the people of Chhattisgarh to decide who will stay in power. Rahul Gandhi running 'Jhooth Ki Dukaan', says MP CM Chouhan

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who talks about Mohabbat Ki Dukaan (shop of love), actually runs Jhooth Ki Dukaan (shop of lies). Chouhan, in a statement, said Gandhi, while addressing a gathering in the poll-bound state, only dished out lies. Earlier in the day, the Congress MP addressed a rally at Beohari in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, where assembly polls will be held on November 17. "Rahul Gandhi talks about 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' but actually he runs 'Jhooth KI Dukaan' and he lied at the rally also," Chouhan said. The CM said Gandhi, at the gathering, was actually counting "dark deeds" done by Congress governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan because every section of society in Madhya Pradesh is happy due to welfare programmes and development works of the BJP government in the last nearly two decades. The Congress MP had promised a farm loan waiver during the 2018 elections in MP and vowed to remove ...

Amit Shah's speech at Adilabad rally 'filled with lies': BRS leader KTR

The working president of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, K T Rama Rao, alleged on Tuesday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comments at a public meeting in Adilabad were full of lies. Taking a dig at Shah, Rama Rao also said it is ironic to hear him speak of dynastic politics. "Amit Shah's statements at the Adilabad public meeting are filled with blatant lies. Amit Shah has become a laughing stock in Telangana," Rama Rao, the son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), said in a statement. The home minister should clarify "where his son Jay Shah played cricket or provided coaching" before being appointed as secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he added. "Amit Shah, during a speech in Adilabad district five years ago, pledged to revive the dormant Cement Corporation of India. Half a decade later, the promise remains unfulfilled," the BRS leader said. He accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of neglecting Telangana. In

I'm for caste census 100%; it's like X-Ray that will help: Rahul Gandhi

Asserting that he is "100 per cent" in support of a caste census, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has likened the exercise with an "X-Ray" and said it would give a clear picture of how many Dalits, tribals, OBCs and upper castes are there which in turn would help in deciding the future course of action. Gandhi made the remarks on September 23 during his interaction with the students of the Maharani College in Jaipur, a video of which was released on his social media platforms on Tuesday. Gandhi was received by the college principal. After his interaction with the students, the party leader rode pillion on a two-wheeler driven by a girl student amid security on the road outside the college. In his interaction with the girls at the college, Gandhi talked about a host of issues, including the education system and the need for empowering women in the country, according to the video. Chhattisgarh polls: BJP justifies decision to field rioting case accused

A BJP leader accused in a rioting case and a villager whose son was killed in a communal clash have been given tickets by the saffron party for the Chhattisgarh assembly polls scheduled next month. While the opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh has justified its decision to field these two candidates, a political observer said communalism may feature in the state poll campaign this time. Asked whether the BJP was trying to raise the issue of communal violence by giving these tickets, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, "No matter how hard they try, it will not be an issue." Ishwar Sahu, whose son was killed in a communal clash in Biranpur village of Bemetara district in April this year, has been fielded from Saja assembly constituency, while Vijay Sharma, the BJP leader who was named as accused in an incident of rioting in adjoining Kabirdham district in 2021, will contest from Kawardha seat. The two names featured in the BJP's second list of 64 candidates released on Monday. The BJP ha
