Surprise CBI inspection at General Post Office in Shimla's Mall Road

The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection at the General Post Office located on the Mall Road in the heart of the Shimla, officials said. The inspection was conducted to check accounts and documents over allegations of irregularities, an official said, without divulging details. The inspection started after 10 am on Thursday and continued till late evening. CBI officials were unwilling to share more details, and it was yet to be ascertained if the inspections were related to some ongoing cases or a new case.

CBI should immediately arrest Sisodia in 'snooping' case, says Delhi BJP

The Delhi BJP on Wednesday demanded that the CBI immediately arrest Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in an alleged case of snooping, and also probe the role of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in it. The people of Delhi "welcome" the sanction accorded to the CBI to prosecute Sisodia in a case related to alleged collection of "political intelligence" through a city government department, Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva said. "We demand that the CBI immediately arrest Sisodia and the real accused of the snoopgate Arvind Kejriwal should also be probed," he said. CBI searches 30 locations in Punjab in corruption probe against FCI

The CBI on Tuesday launched searches at 30 locations in Punjab as part of its probe into allegations of corruption against Food Corporation of India (FCI) officials who procured inferior grains to benefit merchants and rice millers, officials said. The CBI teams started coordinated raids at the premises of grain merchants, rice mill owners, and serving and retired officials of the FCI in multiple districts of Punjab, including Sirhind, Fatehpur Sahib and Monga, as part of 'Operation Kanak 2', they said. This is second round of searches in the FIR pertaining to an organised syndicate of officers at the FCI, who allegedly charged bribes of Rs 1000-4000 per truck unloaded at the FCI godowns from private millers per crop season for covering up lower quality grains supplied by them and other favours. CBI to question Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in excise policy case on Feb 26

The CBI has issued a fresh notice to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to appear for questioning in the excise policy scam case on February 26, officials said Monday. The notice was issued on his request as he had sought deferment of his previously scheduled questioning on February 19, they said. Sisodia, who holds the finance portfolio in the Delhi government, had cited the ongoing budget exercise to defer his questioning and had also sought a date during the last week of February, they said. Addressing a press conference, Sisodia, a senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, said that he has been called for questioning on February 26 and will appear before the probe agency. The CBI on Sunday deferred the questioning of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi Excise policy scam case after he sought time from the probe agency citing the city government's ongoing budget exercise. The agency had asked Sisodia to appear for questioning on Sunday. The central probe agency accepted Sisodia's application to defer the questioning and will give a new date soon, officials said. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday urged the CBI to defer his questioning till the last week of February in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case as he is busy finalising the city budget. Sisodia had been called for questioning on Sunday in connection with the case, nearly three months after a charge sheet was filed in the matter, officials said. BJP MLA from east Delhi's Gandhinagar, Anil Bajpai, has once again targeted party MP Gautam Gambhir, seeking a CBI probe into the allotment of MCD 'dhalaos' (dump yards) to private individuals and organisations. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, Bajpai, without naming anyone, claimed that spaces allotted for dhalaos in the area have been converted into 'jan rasois' (community kitchens) and a library and their ownership given to private organisations. CBI arrests 6 people in West Bengal SSC recruitment scam case: Officer

The CBI arrested six people on Friday in connection with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the recruitments made by the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC), a senior officer said. CBI interrogates Satyendar Jain in Tihar Jail in Delhi excise policy case

The CBI interrogated Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in Tihar Jail here in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam, his lawyer said on Wednesday. The counsel said the investigation agency had moved an application before Special Judge M K Nagpal last Friday in this regard, and the same was allowed. Leading stock exchange NSE's board has given its approval to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to prosecute its former MD and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna in the co-location scam case, sources said on Monday. The CBI was awaiting the go-ahead of the board of National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) to prosecute Ramkrishna following her arrest in March last year. She was arrested in the co-location scam nearly four years after an FIR was registered by the agency in May 2018. The CBI is probing the alleged improper dissemination of information from the computer servers of the market exchanges to the stock brokers. NSE's co-location facility allows stock brokers to take on rent specific racks and co-locate their servers and systems within the exchange premises. CBI arrests KCR's daughter K Kavitha's ex-auditor in excise policy case

The CBI has arrested a Hyderabad-based chartered accountant (CA), understood to be the auditor of BRS MLC K Kavitha, in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, officials said on Wednesday. The Central Bureau of Investigation had called the CA, Butchibabu Gorantla, to Delhi for questioning in connection with the excise policy case. He was arrested on Tuesday evening as he was non-cooperative and his responses were found to be evasive, they said. The CBI has alleged that Gorantla's role in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 caused "wrongful gain" to Hyderabad-based wholesale and retail licensees and their beneficial owners. The agency will produce him before a special court here on Wednesday. The CBI had questioned Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in connection with the case in December last year.

Will BJP order CBI probe into paper leak incidents in MP: Ashok Gehlot

Amid the opposition BJP's demand of a CBI inquiry into incidents of paper leak in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday asked if the saffron party was ready to order a probe into similar incidents in its party-ruled Madhya Pradesh. He said the recruitment of contractual staff nurses of the National Health Mission in Madhya Pradesh was cancelled due to paper leak. He said such incidents in Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and other states in the past few days are a matter of serious concern.
