Congress president-elect Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said no one in the party is big or small and he will work as a true Congress soldier to strengthen the organisation. Addressing a press conference soon after he was declared elected as the party's president, Kharge said for him every Congress worker is equal and all have to work together to fight the fascists forces threatening democracy and the Constitution. Chhattisgarh Cong tribal lawmakers donate salary for reservation case

Tribal MPs, MLAs and ministers of the Congress in Chhattisgarh will donate one month's salary towards legal expenses of the case related to reservation for the community, a party leader said on Tuesday. The Chhattisgarh High Court last month set aside the state government's 2012 decision to increase reservations in government jobs and educational institutions to 58 per cent. Reservations exceeding the 50 per cent ceiling were unconstitutional, the court held. The HC's decision resulted in a reduction in the quota for the tribal communities -- which account for 32 per cent of the state's population -- to 20 per cent from 32 per cent. In view of the resentment it caused, tribal leaders of Congress including ministers, MLAs and MPs held a meeting with the heads of various tribal groups here on Tuesday to discuss the further course of action, said party MLA Brihaspati Singh. Bharat Jodo Yatra bigger than Lord Rama's padyatra: Rajasthan minister

Calling the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra a "unique and historic" movement, Rajasthan Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena said Rahul Gandhi's march is much bigger than Lord Rama's padyatra from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka. Taking a jibe at Meena's statement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the Congress leaders had resorted to "flattery" to save their existence.
