Delhi logs 520 new Covid-19 cases, one fatality; positivity rate at 3.44%

Delhi on Thursday recorded 520 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.44 per cent, while one more person succumbed to the viral disease, according to health department data. With this, Delhi's COVID-19 caseload climbs to 19,42,425 and its death toll to 26,289, it showed. The fresh infections came out of 15,114 COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago, according to the data. On Wednesday, Delhi recorded 490 coronavirus cases with a positivity rate of 3.16 per cent and three fatalities due to the disease. On Tuesday, the city recorded 400 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.92 per cent and one fatality. The city reported 280 cases of the disease with a positivity rate of 4.21 per cent on Monday. Of the 9,490 beds for COVID-19 patients in Delhi hospitals, only 117 were occupied as on Thursday. With 804 new cases, Odisha reports highest Covid infections in 5 months

Odisha reported 804 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the highest in nearly five months, the health department said. The positivity rate jumped to 4.18 per cent as the cases were detected after testing 19,218 samples. Seventy-one children were among the new patients, it said. Khurda, where the capital Bhubaneswar is located, reported the highest number of 307 cases, followed by 119 cases in Cuttack. On February 17, the state reported 886 cases. The toll remained at 9,127 as there were no new deaths. The active cases climbed to 4,262, out of which 1,694 patients are in Khurda. As many as 420 more people recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 12,82,690. The state has so far reported 12,96,132 cases.

Gujarat reports 742 new COVID-19 cases, zero death; active tally at 4,225

Gujarat on Wednesday reported 742 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising its overall tally to 12,39,751, while no new death linked to the infection was registered in the state, the health department said. Also, 673 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, pushing up the tally of recovered cases to 12,24,576, it said. The number of active cases now stands at 4,225, of which three patients are on ventilator support, said the department in a release. With no new fatalities, the coronavirus toll remained unchanged at 10,950, said the department. District-wise, Ahmedabad reported 260 new cases, Surat 107, Mehsana 63, Vadodara 45 and Bhavnagar 53 cases, among others, it said. Mumbai records 383 Covid-19 cases, one death; active count at 3,006

Mumbai on Wednesday recorded 383 fresh coronavirus positive cases and one fatality, the city civic body said. With the addition of these cases, the city's overall infection tally rose to 11,19,833 and toll to 19,625. On Tuesday, the city had recorded 420 cases and no fatality, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a bulletin. The active caseload of the metropolis stands at 3,006. It said that 694 people recuperated in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative recovery count to 10,97,202. Its recovery rate stood at 98 per cent. A total of 11,418 tests were conducted in the city in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative test count to 1,76,55,861. Mumbai's COVID-19 case doubling rate stood at 1,645 days, while the growth rate from June 6 to July 12 was 0.041 per cent, the health department said.

Maha records 2,575 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths; active tally below 17,000

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 2,575 fresh coronavirus cases, while 10 more patients succumbed to the infection in the state, the health department said. With these additions, the state's overall COVID-19 tally rose to 80,10,223, while the toll increased to 1,48,001, the department said in a bulletin. The state had recorded 2,435 cases and 13 COVID-19-linked fatalities on Tuesday. Mumbai recorded 383 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours and one more fatality due to the respiratory illness. Areas under municipal corporations of Navi Mumbai, Pune and Satara district recorded two fatalities each. Akola and Vasai-Virar towns and Solapur district registered one death each, the bulletin said. The state's case fatality rate stood at 1.84 per cent. Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under home isolation. "Following symptoms of light fever & body pain, I underwent Covid test. Mumbai sees 235 new Covid cases, a 6-week low; no deaths for 3rd day in row

Mumbai on Monday reported 235 COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day rise after May 25, while the death toll remained unchanged in the metropolis for the third consecutive day. A day earlier, the city had recorded 399 cases, a civic official said. With the new additions, the COVID-19 tally in Mumbai stands at 11,19,030 and the death toll is 19,624 as of Monday. It is for the first time since June 8 that Mumbai has not seen deaths from the infection three days in a row, the official pointed out. The 235 cases added to the tally was the lowest after the 295 recorded on May 25, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added. Delhi on Monday reported 280 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 4.21 per cent, according to health department data. No new deaths were logged. With the fresh infections and fatalities, Delhi's COVID-19 caseload climbed to 19,41,015 and the death toll stood at 26,284, the health department bulletin said.
