West Bengal reported 2,962 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday at a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent, as per the Health Department. Four more patients died, taking the toll to 21,243, it said. There are 23,264 active cases in the state at present, and all of these patients have symptoms. Of them, 508 patients are undergoing treatment at hospitals. The new cases were detected after testing 17,061 samples, recording a positivity rate of 17.36 per cent. So far, 20,07,204 patients have recovered, including 853 since Saturday.
Delhi on Sunday recorded 433 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.96 per cent and two more deaths, according to health department data. This is the fourth consecutive day when the daily case count has remained below 600. With the fresh infections and fatalities, Delhi's COVID-19 caseload climbed to 19,40,735 and the death toll increased to 26,284, the health department bulletin said. The fresh cases came out of 14,623 tests conducted the previous day, it said. Delhi on Saturday recorded 544 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.37 per cent and two fatalities. The capital recorded 531 cases with a positivity rate of 3.13 per cent and three fatalities on Friday.
Karnataka on Sunday reported 942 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total infections to 39,79,021, the State Health Department said. The department in its daily COVID-19 bulletin said 737 people were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 39,32,000 till date. Active cases stood at 6,898. Of the total infections, Bengaluru urban district contributed 831 while there were 30 cases in Mysuru, 13 in Dakshina Kannada, 11 each in Belagavi and Kolar and 10 in Udupi. There were zero infections and fatalities in 11 districts of the State. The positivity rate for the day was 4.20 per cent, the department said. As many as 22,403 tests were conducted, those included 17,210 RT-PCR tests. The total tests done is 6.72 crore till date. There were 3,329 people who were inoculated, taking the total vaccinated to 11.27 crore so far, the department said.

Chhattisgarh on Friday reported 296 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 2.42 per cent, taking the tally to 11,55,791, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,040, an official said. Durg led with 60 cases, followed by 53 in Raipur, 26 in Rajnandgaon, 22 in Bilaspur, 19 in Bemetara, 15 in Korba and 13 in Balodabazar, he said, adding that no coronavirus case was reported in five districts. So far, 11,40,388 persons have recovered from the infection, including 136 during the day, leaving the state with an active caseload of 1,363, the official said. With 12,230 samples examined during the day, the overall number of tests carried out so far went up to 1,79,92,016, he added. Aurangabad in Maharashtra on Friday reported 69 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 1,70,508, while the death toll remained unchanged at 3,736, a health official said. Of the new cases, 40 are from the city and 29 are from rural areas of the district, he added. The active caseload of the district is 359, of which 333 are in home isolation, the official informed. The recovery count increased by 19 during the day to touch 1,66,413, he said.

Maharashtra on Thursday recorded 2,678 new coronavirus cases and eight pandemic-related deaths, the state health department said. The state also reported 20 new infections of BA.2.75 subvariant of Omicron, the official release said. On Wednesday, Maharashtra had reported 3,142 coronavirus cases and seven fatalities. The caseload in the state rose to 79,95,729, and death toll reached 1,47,964. New cases of BA.2.75 were found in the Nagpur division which comprises Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Wardha districts. These cases came to light from the testing of samples collected between June 15 to July 5. With this, the tally of BA.2.75 infections detected in the state reached 30.
