Delhi govt to set up food incubators, hi-tech labs to boost startups

The Delhi government will set up two new incubation centres for micro food processing firms and three advanced technology labs for startups, Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Saturday. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship PMFME scheme, Rs 4.5 crore will be invested in food processing incubators at Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University's World Class Skill Centres in Jhandewalan and Wazirpur. Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University has already received an initial Rs 50 lakh tranche and begun procuring bakery line equipment, Sirsa said. He also said that separately, a Rs 3.06 crore corporate social responsibility grant from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation will finance two Internet of Things labs and a fabrication lab on Netaji Subhas University of Technology's East and Main campuses. CM Rekha Gupta vows to finish pending public works of previous Delhi govt

The BJP government in Delhi is committed to completing the previous dispensation's pending works in public interest, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Inaugurating a pipeline project in her Shalimar Bagh constituency, Gupta said all incomplete development works started during the previous AAP government would be completed in a transparent manner. Gupta said her government's priority was that public works should not stop. The government is busy clearing the previous dispensation's liabilities such as completing the incomplete works and clearing the pending dues. She said a scheme for providing grants to senior citizens' associations was stopped by the AAP dispensation that was being revived by her government and it was making arrangements to pay the dues. In the first phase of the Shalimar Bagh project, water and sewer lines are being laid and repaired in various residential blocks. Delhi Master Plan 2041 to urbanise 48 villages, says PWD Minister

The Delhi Master Plan 2041 will be implemented soon and 48 villages in the national capital will get urbanised, Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma said on Saturday. The minister also announced that the first registry of properties falling under the Lal Dora category will be completely free of cost. The move is expected to resolve long-pending property disputes and enable people to obtain legal ownership documents without financial burden. The minister made the remarks during a visit to Daulatpur village in southwest Delhi, said a statement by Verma's office. "The long-awaited Master Plan 2041 is in its final stages and will be implemented very soon. Our goal is not just to create policies, but to transparently implement them on the ground with accountability," Verma told reporters. The BJP government in Delhi is committed to complete the pending work left behind by the previous regime in the public interest, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said that her government would bring a modernisation plan for mandis, a day after she visited the Azadpur Mandi. "There are lack of facilities in mandis across Delhi. The previous AAP government did not do anything for providing facilities to mandis. There are many labourers and traders working here but there is no cleanliness and no safety," she charged. Gupta alleged corruption in functioning of the mandis and promised to bring a modernisation plan for them. "Our government will bring a modernisation plan for mandis. We will work towards making tight arrangements for security of these mandis," she told reporters.

'PNG rollout to 111 Delhi villages key correction in clean energy drive'

Expanding Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to 111 villages in Delhi's periphery is a significant step towards addressing the needs of communities left behind in India's clean cooking fuel transition, said Kalpana Balakrishnan, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health in India. "These villages represent pockets that could not transition earlier despite economic opportunities nearby. If it were possible, they would have transitioned by now. These are households with the least socio-economic privileges, making this a crucial equity-favouring initiative, Balakrishnan told PTI, referring to the Delhi government's latest push to extend PNG supply to the rural areas. The initiative by the Delhi government in partnership with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and other city gas distribution companies aims to replace traditional biomass and LPG use with cleaner, safer, and more affordable piped gas connections. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday stressed on making the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system "faceless" and transparent, while highlighting that Rs 80,000 crore of GST dues of the Delhi government are pending due to disputes and other reasons. Ayushman Bharat sees 28K registrations for elderly in a week: Delhi CM

Over 28,000 elderly, aged 70 years and above, in Delhi have registered within a week under the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojna that gives a health cover of Rs 10 lakh, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Flagging off a mobile van for registrations under the health insurance scheme in RK Puram constituency, she said Rs 5 lakh cover is provided by the Centre and the Delhi government will top it up with an additional Rs 5 lakh. The chief minister said that since the launch of the scheme in Delhi on April 28, over 28,000 registrations have been done in the last five days. Mobile vans will operate in each of the 70 assembly constituencies for registering eligible senior citizens.
