Delhi Police at RaGa's home over 'women being sexually assaulted' remark

The Delhi Police on Sunday reached the residence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a notice issued to him over his women are still being sexually assaulted remark made during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The police team headed by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda arrived at Gandhi's 12, Tughlaq Lane residence, officials said. Taking cognisance of social media posts, police had sent a questionnaire to the Congress leader and asked him to give details about the women who approached him regarding sexual harassment". According to police, Gandhi gave a statement in Srinagar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra that 'I have heard that women are still being sexually assaulted'. Police had asked him to give details of these victims so that security could be provided to them, the officials said.

Delhi Police to deploy 20,000 personnel for 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' on Monday

The Delhi Police will deploy over 2,000 security personnel at Ramlila Maidan where thousands of farmers will gather for Monday's 'Kisan Mahapanchayat', officials said. 13,525 vacancies in Delhi Police, 14% of total strength, says Parl Panel

As many as 13,525 posts are lying vacant in the Delhi Police which is around 14 per cent of the sanctioned strength of 94,254, a Parliamentary panel has noted. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, headed by BJP MP Brijlal, noted that the recruitment process to fill the 3,861 posts is going on and recommended that the hiring process should be completed within a fixed timeframe. "The committee notes that there are 13,525 vacancies in the Delhi Police which is around 14 per cent of the sanctioned strength of 94,254," the report of the committee, which was submitted in Parliament on Friday, said. The panel recommended that the remaining 9,664 vacancies may also be filled as planned by the Delhi Police. This will increase the strength of the Delhi Police and further enhance their capability for maintenance of law and order in the National Capital Region, it noted. The committee also recommended that two different mechanisms should be devised for improving coordination .

The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the reopening of the Ashram Flyover from 5 pm on Monday following the inauguration of an extension.
