Leasing of batteries for 3-wheelers to be rolled out soon in Kolkata

On the streets of Kolkata and surrounding areas, e-rickshaws, popularly known as 'toto', are set to be powered by lithium-ion batteries with the rolling out of a battery leasing model, officials said on Sunday. Neuron Energy, a lithium-ion battery maker, has joined hands with Urja Mobility to spearhead the leasing model which has so far been heard only in the business-to-business EV sector, they said. "We're kick-starting this journey from Bengal, offering lithium-ion batteries for e-rickshaws on a lease model with our financing partner, Urja Mobility. Our sights are set on expanding to other markets soon," said Pratik Kamdar, CEO & Co-Founder of Neuron Energy. This will empower e-rickshaws, with GPS-enabled lithium-ion batteries, zipping through the lanes of Kolkata, he said. Electric vehicle retail sales grow across segments in FY24, says Fada

Electric vehicle retail sales in India increased last fiscal with all the segments, including passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, witnessing enhanced registrations, according to automotive dealers' body FADA. The overall sales of electric passenger vehicles rose to 90,996 units in 2023-24 as compared to 47,551 units in FY23, registering an increase of 91 per cent. Tata Motors led the segment with registrations of 64,217 units, up 66 per cent over 38,728 units in the 2022-23 financial year. Similarly, registrations of electric two-wheelers rose by 30 per cent to 9,47,087 units in 2023-24 fiscal as compared to 7,28,205 units in FY23. Ola Electric led the space with retail sales of 3,29,237 units, followed by TVS Motor Company with registrations of 1,82,969 units. Electric three-wheeler retail sales rose 56 per cent to 6,32,636 units last fiscal as against 4,04,430 units in FY23. Mahindra Group retailed 60,618 units last fiscal, registering a growth of 69 per cent over 35,916 units

Adani, TotalEnergies to set up EV charging stations at new MG dealerships

A unit of a joint venture between Adani group and French energy giant TotalEnergies will set up EV charging stations at new MG dealerships to bolster the charing network, the company said on Monday. "Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), and MG Motor India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen the EV charging infrastructure in India," it said in a statement. In terms of MoU, ATEL will set up CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships to bolster the charging network and enhance customer accessibility. "The partnership will also provide a comprehensive solution encompassing supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of charging infrastructure.
