Benedict Cumberbatch's 'The Current War' might see the light of the day as the film has managed to secure a domestic release date. The film, which focuses on the rivalry between legendary scientists Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch) and George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon), was shelved in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal that eventually led to the powerful studio mogul's production banner The Weinstein Company declaring bankruptcy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, distributor 101 Studios announced on Tuesday that it will release the film to a limited number of theatres on October 4 in the US, with expansion set to follow a week later. Omani writer wins Man Booker literature prize
Jokha Alharthi has become the first Arabic author to win the Man Booker International prize for her novel "Celestial Bodies" which reveals her Omani homeland's post-colonial transformation. "I am thrilled that a window has been opened to the rich Arabic culture," Alharthi, 40, told reporters after the ceremony at the Roundhouse in London on Tuesday. Alharthi is the author of two previous collections of short fiction, a children's book and three novels in Arabic. She studied classical Arabic poetry at Edinburgh University and teaches at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat. "Oman inspired me but I think international readers can relate to the human values in the book - freedom and love," she said. The prestigious 50,000-pound (USD 64,000) prize, which celebrates translated fiction from around the world, is divided equally between the author and the translator. Holly Hunter boards 'Succession' season two
Oscar winner Holly Hunter is set to star in the second season of HBO satirical family drama "Succession". The show, which premiered on the network in June last year, follows the fictional Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of a global media empire who are fighting for control of the company amidst uncertainty about the health of the family's patriarch, Logan Roy. Hunter, best known for starring in films such as "Broadcast News", "The Piano" and shows like "Top of the Lake", joins Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun and Matthew Macfadyen in the cast. 'The Invisible Man' sets for March 2020 release
Universal Studios has announced that Elizabeth Moss and Storm Reid-starrer "The Invisible Man" reboot will released on March 13, 2020. The film, a Universal-Blumhouse production, is based on the classic 1897 sci-fi novel by HG Wells. The novel has been adapted for both the big screen and television over the years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leigh Whannell wrote and is directing the film. He will co-produce alongside Blumhouse. The project will start production in Sydney, Australia in July this year. The most notable adaptation of Wells' novel was the 1933 black-and-white film, featuring Claude Rains in the title role.
