Integration of Indian filmmakers with production houses worldwide will be facilitated with initiatives such as co-production and single window clearance, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare said Monday aheadof the inauguration ofIndia Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. It would be possible for filmmakers of different countries to come together under bilateral co-production agreements, Khare said ahead of the festival which will be held from May 14 to 25. These arrangements would also forge new markets and wider audiences by making India a hub for shooting world class movies, he was quoted as saying in an official statement. The Pavilion will showcase Indian cinema across linguistic, cultural and regional diversity, with the aim of forging international partnerships in distribution, production, filming in India, script development, technology, promoting film sales and syndication. The remake of hit Telugu film "Arjun Reddy", the film chronicles a surgeon who goes berserk after his ex-lover marries someone else. "We are hoping to get a 'U/A' certificate. We don't know if we will or not. We believe there is no reason for us not to get a 'U/A' certificate. I think it is important that today we are able to tell stories honestly, without sugar-coating them," Shahid told reporters. "The audience is mature enough to understand that. I think the censor board should also pay heed to that. There is nothing that is off putting in this film, it is an honest depiction," he added. Actor Shahid Kapoor Monday said his film "Kabir Singh" portrays a flawed man with all honesty and if the audience only wants to watch nice characters, cinema won't go far. "Kabir Singh" is the remake of the Telugu hit "Arjun Reddy", directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who has also helmed the Hindi version. While the film became a rage quickly after its release in 2017, it was criticised for glorifying toxic masculinity and for using anger as a tool to justify the titular character's abuse of women and people around him.
