Jamie Dornan, Holliday Grainger to lead cast of 'Wild Mountain Thyme'

Actors Jamie Dornan and Holliday Grainger are set to play two star-crossed lovers in director John Patrick Shanley's "Wild Mountain Thyme". The film is an adaptation of Shanley's own Tony-nominated 2014 play "Outside Mullingar", reported Variety. Set in Ireland, the movie will feature Dornan, 37, and Grainger, 31, as two obstinate star-crossed lovers, whose families are caught up in a feud over a hotly contested patch of land that separates their two farms. The project hails from Mar-Key Pictures, Likely Story and Port Pictures, and will be produced by Leslie Urdang, Anthony Bregman, Alex Witchel and Martina Niland. Andrew Kramer will executive produce. Filming is expected to start in next few months in Ireland and New York.

'Rocketman' to open Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival

Elton John biopic "Rocketman" will be the opening feature at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival. The Paramount Pictures project features Taron Egerton as the iconic British singer-songwriter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon's comedy "Late Night", featuring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson, will close the festival. The full lineup of the festival, which runs from May 23 to June 2, was announced in Toronto on Friday. The 29th edition of Inside Out Toronto will screen 40 feature films in all, from 32 countries. Netflix's Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, which stars Ellen Page and Laura Linney, is set for a gala screening at the fest.

Evan Rachel Wood to star in 'One Thousand Paper Cranes'

"Westworld" star Evan Rachel Wood will be headlining the Hiroshima bombing survivor drama "One Thousand Paper Cranes". According to Variety, Richard Raymond will direct the project from a script by Ben Bolea. Wood, 31, will be joined by actors Jim Sturgess and Shinobu Terajima in the cast. The film is based on the story of Hiroshima survivor Sadako Sasaki and author Eleanor Coerr, who wrote the bestselling children's book "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes". Sasaki was a two-year-old when the atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima in 1945. She was later diagnosed with leukemia caused by exposure to radiation from the blast. She, however, drew strength from a Japanese legend that, if she folded 1,000 paper cranes, she would be granted a wish, which in her case was to live. Coerr, an aspiring journalist and young mother, learns of the girl and becomes determined to share her story with the world. Raymond will also produce the film Ian Bryce and Irene Yeung.

Actors Michelle Pfeiffer, Lucas Hedges and Tracy Letts have joined the cast of comedy "French Exit". According to the Hollywood Reporter, Azazel Jacobs is directing the film from a script penned by Patrick deWitt. The film is based on his deWitt's bestselling book of the same name that was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. In the movie Pfeiffer will play a 60-year-old penniless Manhattan socialite whose husband has been dead for 20 years. With his vast inheritance gone, she cashes in the last of her possessions and resolves to live out her twilight days anonymously in a modest apartment in Paris, accompanied by her directionless son (Hedges) and the embodiment of her husband in the form of the family cat, voiced by Letts.

Saif Ali Khan's upcoming film backed by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions is set for a September release. According to a statement issued by the makers, the team will soon announce the title of the film. The project was earlier named "Hunter". Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' to release on Christmas 2020

Superstar Aamir Khan's next "Laal Singh Chaddha" will hit the theatres on Christmas 2020, Viacom18 Studios announced on Saturday. The film, produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, is a Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 classic "Forrest Gump". "Secret Superstar" helmer Advait Chandan is directing the film from a script by actor-writer Atul Kulkarni. Aamir, 54, had announced the project on his birthday in March. The actor, whose last film "Thugs of Hindostan" did not perform well at the box office, said he would be losing around 20 kgs for his role in "Laal Singh Chaddha". The actor had also revealed that he would be sporting a turban for some segments of the film. The movie is expected to go on floors in October.

"Fist Fight" director Richie Keen has been roped in to helm Will Ferrell-fronted eSports comedy at Legendary Pictures. Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme have penned the script. According to Deadline, the film will feature Ferrell as a member of a professional eSports team, and an exception in a sport where players usually retire in their 20s due to slowing hand-eye coordination. Singer-actor Sabrina Carpenter is set to play the lead in dance comedy "Work It". Sabrina, 19, is known for her portrayal of Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series "Girl Meets World". The teen film from STX and Alloy Entertainment has singer Alicia Keys attached as producer, reported Deadline. Keys is producing alongside producers Elysa Koplovitz Dutton and Leslie Morgenstein from Alloy Entertainment. "Work It" is a coming of age comedy which follows an awkward teenage girl (Carpenter) who after being rejected from her high school's dance team, assembles a crew of bold and fearless misfits to compete against them in a national dance championship. Hollywood star Charlize Theron has said she is not sure if she will be appearing in the upcoming ninth installment of "The Fast and the Furious" series . The 43-year-old actor essayed the role of cyber-terrorist Cipher in 2017's "The Fate of the Furious", the eighth instalment of the street racing action franchise. ''I have no f***ing clue. Nobody's called me, so I have a feeling I might not be in it," Theron said during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen".
