MNS demands Prasoon Joshi's resignation from CBFC over Modi biopic
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded the resignation of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Prasoon Joshi over allegedly giving preferential treatment to the makers of the upcoming biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film, titled "PM Narendra Modi" and directed by Omung Kumar, has been criticised by the opposition parties, who claim that the biopic could give undue advantage to the BJP in the polls as it will arrive in theatres before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The seven-phase polls will begin on April 11, the day the film is scheduled to release. "As per the rule, the producers have to submit the final copy of the film to the censor board 58 days prior to the date of the exhibition. So why was special treatment given to the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?" Amey Khopkar, President of Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, said in a statement. Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are leaving Warner Bros to join the streaming service bandwagon. According to Variety, the writer couple and their company Kilter Films have inked a deal with Amazon Studios under which they will be creating new shows for the streaming giant, starting with sci-fi drama "The Peripheral". Sources told the outlet that the deal is estimated at a whopping USD 150 million. "Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy are two of the most talented and inventive creators in the business. British actor Daisy Edgar Jones quits SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'
English actor Daisy Edgar Jones has exited filmmaker SS Rajamouli's upcoming venture "RRR" due "family circumstances". The actor, who was supposed to star opposite Jr NTR in the much-anticipated project, took to Instagram to share the news. "'RRR', unfortunately due to family circumstances I am unable to participate in filming for this wonderful film. The script is truly brilliant and it's such a great character. I hope whomever they cast, receives as warm a welcome as I have and I wish the production all the best," Jones said in a statement posted on her official account. The official Twitter handle of the film also posted the news of the actor's departure. "Due to unavoidable circumstances, @DaisyEdgarJones is no longer a part of our film. Mick Jagger, frontman of English rock band Rolling Stones, on Saturday said he is feeling "much better" post his heart surgery. The legendary band had to postpone the North American leg of their 'No Filter' tour, which was supposed to run from April 20 to July 29 to give Jagger time to undergo medical treatment and recover. "Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, I'm feeling much better now and on the mend - and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job," the 75-year-old rocker posted on Twitter. Rolling Stone magazine previously reported that the operation involved surgery to replace a heart valve. "Mick Jagger has successfully undergone treatment. He is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery," the band had said in a statement. There is no announcement yet on when the delayed tour dates will be rescheduled.
