As many as 9,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country by the central government to make health facilities accessible to people, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Tuesday. Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav addressed the Jan Aushdhi Diwas 2023 program, a ministry statement said. He said under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more than 9,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened across the country by the central government to make health facilities accessible to all people. Yadav said medicines are available at these centers at low prices, due to which the public is getting relief from the burden of expensive medicines. He said along with this, keeping in view the convenience of women, the availability of sanitary pads at cheap rates is also being ensured by the government at these Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Tamil Nadu health dept to hold 1,000 fever camps on Mar 10 as cases rise

The health department would hold over 1,000 fever camps on March 10 in the wake of reported increase in fever cases among the public in Tamil Nadu, Medical and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian said on Sunday. The minister said mobile fever clinics would be deployed in 200 places on the day aimed at benefitting members of the public in the city. In a statement here, Subramanian said fever cases reported were due to cold conditions that prevailed in the state till recently. Its symptoms include body ache, throat pain, cold, cough and fever. Each fever camp would have a doctor accompanied with a nurse, lab technician and an assistant. Senior citizens and those ailing with co-morbidities, parents with children are appealed to take part in the camps. Adequate medicines have been made available in the camps, he said. To prevent the spread of the disease, one can protect themselves by wearing a facial mask, hand hygiene, maintaining social distance, he said in the release.

Mansukh Mandaviya, Ashwini Vaishnaw flag off Jan Aushadhi train

Union ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday flagged off a Jan Aushadhi train as part of the week long celebrations to commemorate the scheme. The train, Chhattisgarh Samparkranti Express, was wrapped with branding of Jan Aushadhi scheme to spread the awareness about Jan Aushadhi Generic medicines which are available through more than 9,000 Kendra at affordable prices, chemicals and fertilizers ministry said in a statement. The train will travel to more than four states for two months, it added. Also, a similar train from Pune to Danapur has been flagged off covering four states for two months for generating awareness amongst the general public about the Jan Aushadhi scheme, the statement noted. India logs 283 new Covid-19 infections, active cases climb to 2,525

India logged 283 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases rose to 2,525, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The death toll stands at 5,30,772, the data updated at 8 am stated. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,87,162) and the national recovery rate has been recorded at 98.80 per cent, the ministry said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,53,865, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent. According to the ministry's website, 220.63 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The Union Health Ministry has been awarded the Porter Prize 2023 for successfully combating the COVID-19 crisis. The prize was announced at The India Dialog, organized by Institute for Competitiveness (IFC) and US Asia Technology Management Center (USATMC) at Stanford University on February 23-24, a health ministry statement said on Thursday. Scan, share service for faster OPD registrations gaining success: NHA

The National Health Authority's Scan and Share service for faster OPD registrations has been adopted by 365 hospitals within five months of its launch, an official statement said on Thursday. The service has helped over five lakh patients save time by drastically reducing wait times in OPD registration areas, it said. The Scan and Share service is currently live in 125 districts across 25 states and UTs in the country. Karnataka (2.5 lakh tokens), Uttar Pradesh (1.1 lakh users) and Delhi (72,000 users) are the leading states in the adoption of this service for better patient experience, the statement by the NHA said. Govt focussing on production of high-value pharmaceuticals: Health Minister

The government is taking steps to produce "high value pharmaceuticals" in the country to reduce import dependency for such critical articles, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Tuesday. Manufacturing of components of high-end medical devices in the country will be another big step in moving towards self reliance, the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers noted. "Working on the vision of reducing import dependency through indigenous production, the government is focussing on production of high value pharmaceuticals and high-end medical devices," he said. Mandaviya said the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has released the first tranche of incentives under the Product Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of pharmaceuticals amounting to Rs 166 crore to four selected applicants. Under the Atmanirbharta initiative of the government, DoP launched the PLI scheme for pharmaceuticals in 2021. The financial outlay under this PLI scheme is Rs 15,000 crore over a period of six years.
