Rohit passed away in New Delhi on Tuesday less than six months after his father died at the age of 93 in October last year. Rohit had fought a six-year-long legal battle to prove that he was N D Tiwari's "biological" son born of an affair between the former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand chief minister and his mother Ujjwala. Tiwari married Rohit's mother at the age of 89 in 2014 after Rohit won the paternity suit against him.
A group of BJP supporters chanted slogans during a roadshow of actor and Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar in suburban Malad Tuesday, police said. This was the second time Matondkar, who is pitted against the BJP's Gopal Shetty in Mumbai North seat, faced slogan-shouting supporters of the saffron party. A group of BJP supporters arrived as Matondkar was riding a van along Daftary road in Dindoshi, and started chanting "Modi, Modi" near her vehicle, a police officer said. A dog found swimming more than 220 kilometres from shore by workers on an oil rig crew in the Gulf of Thailand has been returned safely to land. A worker on the rig belonging to Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Vitisak Payalaw, said on his Facebook page that the dog was sighted last Friday swimming toward the platform. The crew managed to rescue the dog by putting a rope around its neck and hauling it up. He said the crew speculated it might have fallen off a fishing trawler, and dubbed him "Boon Rod," or "Survivor." The dog landed Monday at the southern port of Songkhla and was declared in good shape after being delivered to the animal protection group Watchdog Thailand.

A 40-year-old woman suffered head injuries on Tuesday after her saree got stuck in a carriage door of a Delhi Metro train as it was about to leave a station, due to which she got dragged on the platform, her husband said. The victim, Gita, was travelling with her daughter when the incident took place at the Moti Nagar metro station on the Blue Line. "Gita and my daughter were travelling from Nawada. They got off at the Moti Nagar station when the 'pallu' of Gita's saree got stuck in the closing door. On a spring day in Hartsdale, a northern suburb of New York City where she leads her classes, Tao Porchon-Lynch said she first encountered the ancient practice at age 7 in her native India. Strolling along a beach, she was transfixed by a group of boys doing yoga poses. When her aunt told her the movements were "not ladylike," she responded, "If boys can do it, I can do it." By the time Porchon-Lynch was a teenager, already teaching yoga, she was able to explain how to breathe in a healthy way - especially to people in awkward sitting positions.
