Lucknow: 2 cops suspended for illegally raiding businessman's house

At least two sub-inspectors have been suspended after they illegally raided the house of a coal trader and took away Rs 1.58 crore, calling it black money, police said.The incident took place in Gosaiganj area here on Saturday.According to the police, the two sub-inspectors, Pawan Mishra and Ashish Tiwari, claimed that they received information that crores of rupees were illegally kept in the businessman's house.Without officially keeping the police department in the loop, the two cops raided the house and took away the money.Later, the coal trader approached the police, following which the two sub-inspectors were suspended by the city's SSP Kalanidhi Naithani."Two sub-inspectors Pawan Mishra and Ashish Tiwari have been suspended after they took Rs 1.58 crore from a coal trader calling it black money. They were tipped off by one Madhukar Mishra. A case of loot has been registered against these three persons. Also, three to four people have been booked in this matter," Naithani said.

Suspicious man detained near Army camp in Jaisalmer

The police on Saturday detained a suspicious man near an Army camp in Jaisalmer.The man who identified himself as Kadar Khan confessed that he had gone to Pakistan in 2018, said the Police.KS Dhillon, SHO Ramgarh said, "Kadar Khan, was brought to the police station after he was found roaming near their campus. He has confessed that he went to Pakistan in 2018. Officials have been informed. He is currently being questioned."More details about the incident are awaited.

6-yr-old boy killed, man injured in gunshot firing in Delhi

A 6-year-old boy died while a 29-year-old man was injured after gunshots were fired in a gym at Inderpuri, police said Saturday. On receiving information at 8:45 pm about gunshots being fired, police reached the spot and found that the boy, Prince Raj, who was looking through the window of his residence above the gym has died while another person, Mahender, was injured while entering the building, an official said. The injured was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he was stated to be out of danger, police said. Initial enquiry revealed that four people of JJ Colony in Inderpuri were involved in the incident, they said, adding a case has been registered in the matter and a hunt is on to nab the accused.

One electrocuted to death in Kolkata

One person died and two others were injured on Saturday, after they were accidentally electrocuted while trying to dismantle hoardings inside a tram depot in Tollygunge area, police said. The mishap occurred at around 2.30 pm when the three labourers went inside the Tollygunge tram depot to take down the hoardings, a senior officer of Regent Park Police Station said. Jahangir Mollah (30) was declared brought dead at the MR Bangur Hospital, while the two others Bikash Bera and Laxmi Mondal - are undergoing treatment at the same medical facility, he said. "We are probing the matter to ascertain whether there was any human error or a mere accident," the officer said.

: A total of 172 students has been commissioned as gentlemen and lady cadets, including those hailing from Bhutan and Afghanistan, during a passing out parade at the Officers Training Academy here. A 116-year-old Japanese woman who loves playing the board game Othello was honored Saturday as the world's oldest living person by Guinness World Records. The global authority on records officially recognized Kane Tanaka in a ceremony at the nursing home where she lives in Fukuoka, in Japan's southwest. Her family and the mayor were present to celebrate. Tanaka was born January 2, 1903, the seventh among eight children. She married Hideo Tanaka in 1922, and they had four children and adopted another child. She is usually up by 6 a.m. and enjoys studying mathematics. The previous oldest living person was another Japanese woman, Chiyo Miyako, who died in July at age 117. The oldest person prior to Miyako was also Japanese.
