Telangana Cabinet approves Rs 60K cr plan for expansion of Hyderabad metro

The Telangana Cabinet on Monday decided to expand the metro rail network in Hyderabad with about Rs 60,000 crore in the next three-four years and, among other decisions, to provide ex-gratia to the kin of 40 people who died during the recent heavy rains in the state. In another key decision, the cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, decided to recognise the over-43,000 employees of the state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) as government staff. Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, State Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao said it has been decided to expand metro rail on a large scale to strengthen public transport in Hyderabad. Recalling that the CM had already laid the foundation stone for metro rail between Raidurgam to the airport, he said the metro rail expansion would take place on many routes that connect Hyderabad to its outskirts in various directions. Everest DX expands presence in Telangana with inauguration of new office

A senior Telangana government officer on Thursday inaugurated Everest DX's new office in Cyber Towers, HITEC City in Hyderabad. The company, headquartered in Connecticut, USA, completed five years in Hyderabad. The new office is its second in the city and it was opened by Telangana Principal Secretary (IT and Industries) Jayesh Ranjan, a release said. AST SpaceMobile opens development centre, R&D services hub in Hyderabad

AST SpaceMobile, a company building a space-based cellular broadband network accessible directly by standard mobile phones, on Monday, announced the opening of a new research and development services hub and space technology development centre in Hyderabad. Rs 1.21 trn spent on urban infra in Telangana, says minister K T Rama Rao

The Telangana government has spent over Rs 1.21 lakh crore between 2014 to 2023 from Municipal Administration and Urban Development department for the infrastructure and capital investment in Hyderabad and other urban areas, Minister K T Rama Rao said on Wednesday. Releasing the annual report of MUDA, he said it is 462.8 per cent more than (or 4.62 times) Rs 26,211.5 crore, which was spent by the then government for the period between 2004 and 2014. Of the total Rs 1,21,294 crore infra spending during 2014-23, a whopping Rs 1,11,360 crore (91.8 per cent) was spent by the state government and only Rs 9,934 crore (8.2 per cent) was the Centre's share, he further said. The Strategic Urban Road Development (SRDP) programme was set up to create conflict-free corridors on the main traffic-bearing thoroughfares and to increase the average speed from 15 to 35 kilometres per hour in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and surrounding areas, the Minister said. Record set as 3,000 disable persons practice yoga together in Hyderabad

A mass yoga event here in which as many as 3,000 persons with disabilities from across the country participated has secured recognition from several 'Books of Records' on Wednesday, the organisers said. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar attended the event organised on the occasion of International Yoga Day as the chief guest. "Mass Yoga performance by Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) across India creates (records in the) International World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for the maximum number of Divyangjan performing mass yoga," an official release said. Registration of homes in Hyderabad region falls 7% to 5,877 units in May

Registration of residential properties in Hyderabad region fell 7 per cent annually to 5,877 units in May, according to property consultant Knight Frank India. The residential market of Hyderabad region includes four districts, namely Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy and Sangareddy. Hyderabad recorded registrations of 5,877 residential properties in May 2023, up 31 per cent from previous month. However, it was 7 per cent lower from March last year. The total value of properties registered stood at Rs 2,994 crore. At a district level, the study shows Medchal-Malkajgiri district recorded 45 per cent of the home sales registrations followed by sales registrations at Rangareddy district at 39 per cent. The share of Hyderabad district in total registrations was 16 per cent during May 2023. : The third meeting of the G20 Health Working Group (HWG) will be held in the city from June 4 to 6. The third HWG meeting will have a main event and also a side event, with a focus on collaboration on R&D in Medical Counter Measures (MCMs). Insulin maker GeneSys to invest $50-60 mn to set up plant in Hyderabad

Biotechnology company GeneSys Biologics Pvt Ltd is planning to invest USD 50-60 million to set up a new large-scale recombinant bulk manufacturing facility in Genome Valley here for the production of insulin analogues. The insulin analogues (medical insulin that are altered forms of the human hormone insulin) will be produced in the recombinant bulk manufacturing facility in which purified bulk insulin will be derived through fermentation.
