Twenty employees of Beed District Civil Hospital in Maharashtra have been dismissed from service for submitting fake certificates of being the offspring of freedom fighters in order to get jobs under the reserved category, an official said Friday. The dismissed employees also include women, the official added. The government's dismissal order came after the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) gave its ruling last year, in which it confirmed that the certificates submitted by these 20 employees were bogus. "Twenty employees- seventeen class IV and three class III- were dismissed from service with effect from today (March 1). The government issued their dismissal order on Thursday," district civil surgeon Dr Ashok Thorat said. In 2004, these employees had produced bogus certificates of being sons or daughters of freedom fighters in order to get a job in Beed district hospital, he said.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said Thursday the state government will soon launch a new employment generation programme for the urban youth, which will "ensure dignity of labour". Titled 'Mera Kam Mera Abhiman', the programme is part of the state government's 'Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar' mission, the chief minister said. Singh congratulated the 265 youngsters who got job letters during the the 10-day-long job fair held in all 22 districts under the state's 'Ghar Ghar' mission. The youths had been recruited or placed in different government and private sectors out of the total 40,517 selected for the jobs during the job fair, an official statement said. Household industrial units in residential zones of north Delhi can now have a maximum of nine workers with a power cap of 11 KW, as the area's civic body approved a new policy on Wednesday. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), in a meeting of its House held at Civic Centre here, said its "owner must be residing in the same premises". "The limit on maximum number of workers that can be allowed for such units for issuing or renewal of licence, was earlier proposed to be five, with 5 KW power to be allowed. The policy was approved today with limit on number of workers increased to nine and power cap at 11 KW," a senior official said. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Wednesday said his government has made efforts to weed out corruption, nepotism and irregularities in government recruitment process, soon after coming to power last year. He said that by introducing the "fair employment policy" for jobs, his government ensured that the state's youth benefitted from it. "We have already recruited 983 teachers through Teachers Eligibility Test conducted through Teachers Recruitment Board in the education department. The over two-week long strike by a section of employees of Royal Enfield factory at Oragadam near here has been called off and normal manufacturing operations resumed, the company said Wednesday. "..the entire workforce at Royal Enfield's Oragadam, Chennai facility is reporting to work effective February 23 leading to resumption of normal manufacturing operations", it said in a notification to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Jharkhand government Tuesday increased its share on pension amounts under different schemes, including centrally funded and state funded schemes, officials said. A total of 20,29,738 people will benefit from these decisions, and the enhanced amounts of the pension schemes will be effective from April 1, 2019, an official release said here. Jute sector trade unions in West Bengal have deferred a proposed strike from March 1 by two weeks, as the state government sought more time to look into their demands and resolve the impasse. At a tripartite meeting on Tuesday in presence of West Bengal Labour Minister Moloy Ghatak, the 21 trade unions decided to postpone the strike to March 15. Bengal Chatkal Mazdoor Union leader Anadi Sahu told PTI that Ghatak has been urging the unions to call off the strike. "There has been some progress in talks with the government... we have resolved to defer the strike for two weeks," Sahu said. All trade unions in the sector, barring Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress, have agreed to join the strike to press for their demands, including wage revision and implementation of Minimum Wages Act. The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has given its approval to increase the monthly honorarium of teachers appointed through the School Management Committee (SMC) by 20 per cent, an official spokesperson said Monday. In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the cabinet decided to increase the monthly honorarium of SMC teachers from April 1. The decision would benefit 2,635 teachers. It has decided to increase the monthly honorarium of part time water carriers working in Elementary and Higher Education Departments to Rs 2,400 from Rs 2,200, the spokesman said. At least 2,268 part time workers working on contract basis would be benefitted from this decision, he said. Nearly 2 crore jobs were created in 16 months to December 2018, according to the payroll data of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). The ESIC data is one of payroll numbers released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in its reports based on people joining various social security schemes run by Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority (PFRDA).
