Madhya Pradesh's peak power demand in April-May may touch 13,800 MW

Peak power demand in Madhya Pradesh is expected to touch 13800 megawatt (MW) during summer, a rise of 1300 MW from the corresponding period last year, a senior official said on Friday. The power demand is expected to touch 13800 MW in April and May, when summer will be at its peak, and efforts were on to ensure unhindered supply to consumers, MP Power Management Company chief general manager FK Meshram told PTI. "A review meeting chaired by MP Energy Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Dubey was held for unhindered supply. The meeting was held at Shakti Bhawan here. Women govt employees in MP to get additional seven-day casual leave

Women government employees in Madhya Pradesh would get additional seven days' casual leave (CL), Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Wednesday. Extending greetings on International Women's Day, he also announced that girl students who pass the Class 10 exam will be given financial literacy lessons. Women are contributing equally in every field, but they also have the responsibility of motherhood and care of home. So, we have decided to give additional seven days' CL to all women employees, he tweeted. After Class 10, girl students will be given women-oriented financial literacy lessons, the chief minister said. Arrangements will also be made to provide them skill training including training in handloom, embroidery and traditional folk arts, he said. Indore sees 47 cases of measles in 1 month, 83% patients unvaccinated

At least 47 cases of measles have been detected in Madhya Pradesh's Indore in the last one month and 83 per cent of the infected persons had not been vaccinated, an official said on Monday. The administration has received reports of 47 cases of measles in one month, and the affected persons range from a six-month-old baby to a 19-year-old man, district immunisation officer Dr Tarun Gupta told PTI. Of the infected people, only eight had taken the first dose of measles vaccine, while the remaining 39 were unvaccinated, he said. The health department is conducting a survey and vaccination drives in the measles affected areas of the district, he said. "There are still misconceptions about the measles vaccine among the public. We are also roping in politicians and religious leaders to create awareness among people about getting children vaccinated against the disease," the official said. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will sound poll bugle for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections on March 14 at a rally in Bhopal to be addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, a party functionary said on Saturday. AAP organisational general secretary Sandeep Pathak told reporters that the Kejriwal-led party will contest all 230 seats in the elections, due later this year. 210,000 got govt jobs in MP in 3 yrs, 250,000 got offers from pvt sector

Of 37.8 lakh educated persons registered with the Madhya Pradesh government's employment offices, 21 got jobs in government and semi-government organisations while 2.51 lakh persons got offers from the private sector in the last about three years. The state government also spent Rs 1,674 crore on its employments offices in FY 2021-22, it informed in a written reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Mewaram Jatav in the state Assembly on Tuesday. MP govt paid Rs 37 cr to private firms in 3 years for hiring their planes

The Madhya Pradesh government has paid around Rs 37 crore to private aviation companies for hiring their aircraft and helicopters during the past three years, the state Assembly was informed on Wednesday. The information was given in a written reply in response to a question asked by Congress legislator Mewaram Jatav. Jatav had sought to know the number of air journeys undertaken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, other state ministers and officials and the money paid to private aviation companies for hiring their planes and helicopters for such travels since April 1, 2020. In the written reply, Chouhan said private planes or helicopters are hired when government-owned aircraft are not available to ferry ministers or senior officials. During the given period, government planes and helicopters were used 94 and 982 times, respectively. MP govt presents Rs 3.14 trn Budget, alots Rs 8,000 cr for women's welfare

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday presented a Rs 3.14 lakh crore Budget for 2023-24 with a provision of Rs 8,000 crore for Mukhkyamantri Ladli Behna Yojna, a new scheme to be rolled out for the welfare women in the state where the Assembly polls are due this year-end. No new taxes were announced in the Budget which was presented by state Finance Minister Jadgish Devda in the Assembly. He described it as the "Budget of the public". Devda announced a provision of Rs 8,000 crore for the Mukhkyamantri Ladli Behna Yojna, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's flagship scheme. The Ladli Behna scheme will be rolled out from March 5 in the state.
