Arvind Kejriwal, Mann to sound AAP's poll bugle in Madhya Pradesh on Mar 14

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will sound poll bugle for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections on March 14 at a rally in Bhopal to be addressed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann, a party functionary said on Saturday. AAP organisational general secretary Sandeep Pathak told reporters that the Kejriwal-led party will contest all 230 seats in the elections, due later this year. "Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann are coming to Bhopal on March 14. This is going to be the first election rally in MP. The people of MP want to vote for a change, Pathak said. Citing the result of last year's civic polls in MP, he said AAP would form the next government in the central state. In local body elections held in Madhya Pradesh in July-August, 2022, the AAP claimed to have garnered a 6.3 per cent vote share. The Budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was on Friday adjourned till March 13 amid a tussle between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress MLAs on the suspension of an opposition MLA and calls for the Speaker to stay away from the proceedings due to a no confidence proposal against him. Prez Murmu to inaugurate international 'Dharma-Dhamma' conference on Friday

President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the 7th International Dharma-Dhamma Conference in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, an official said. The three-day conference, under the theme 'Eastern Humanism for the New Era' has been organised by India Foundation in collaboration with Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies, and aims to bring together religious, political and thought leaders from Dharma-Dhamma traditions to ponder over building a philosophical framework for the emerging new world order. The conference will have 45 speakers in the inaugural session, a ministers' session, keynote session and five plenary sessions to debate and discuss various subthemes, along with 115 paper presentations by experts from India and abroad in 15 session, he said. 210,000 got govt jobs in MP in 3 yrs, 250,000 got offers from pvt sector

Of 37.8 lakh educated persons registered with the Madhya Pradesh government's employment offices, 21 got jobs in government and semi-government organisations while 2.51 lakh persons got offers from the private sector in the last about three years. The state government also spent Rs 1,674 crore on its employments offices in FY 2021-22, it informed in a written reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Mewaram Jatav in the state Assembly on Tuesday. The Budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is currently underway. Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Yashodhara Raje Scindia stated in the reply to Jatav's question that 37,80,679 educated and 1,12,470 uneducated persons were registered with the MP Employment Portal between April 2020 and the date of the question (January-February 2023). MP govt paid Rs 37 cr to private firms in 3 years for hiring their planes

The Madhya Pradesh government has paid around Rs 37 crore to private aviation companies for hiring their aircraft and helicopters during the past three years, the state Assembly was informed on Wednesday. The information was given in a written reply in response to a question asked by Congress legislator Mewaram Jatav. Jatav had sought to know the number of air journeys undertaken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, other state ministers and officials and the money paid to private aviation companies for hiring their planes and helicopters for such travels since April 1, 2020. In the written reply, Chouhan said private planes or helicopters are hired when government-owned aircraft are not available to ferry ministers or senior officials. During the given period, government planes and helicopters were used 94 and 982 times, respectively. MP govt presents Rs 3.14 trn Budget, alots Rs 8,000 cr for women's welfare

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday presented a Rs 3.14 lakh crore Budget for 2023-24 with a provision of Rs 8,000 crore for Mukhkyamantri Ladli Behna Yojna, a new scheme to be rolled out for the welfare women in the state where the Assembly polls are due this year-end. No new taxes were announced in the Budget which was presented by state Finance Minister Jadgish Devda in the Assembly. He described it as the "Budget of the public". Devda announced a provision of Rs 8,000 crore for the Mukhkyamantri Ladli Behna Yojna, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's flagship scheme. The Ladli Behna scheme will be rolled out from March 5 in the state. Under the scheme, women will be given Rs 1,000 assistance per month with certain riders including that they are not Income Tax payee, as per a government official. Wheat crop has reached the maximum vegetative stage in Madhya Pradesh, parts of Punjab and Haryana, according to the Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC). Whereas in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, wheat crop is yet to reach the maximum vegetative phase due to delay in sowing, it said in its latest report. The life cycle of a wheat plant is divided into three main development phases, namely the vegetative phase, in which leafs and tillers are developed; the reproductive phase, and the grain fill stage. The wheat crop normally enters the grain fill stage in March and any unusual rise in temperature could cause yield damage. Wheat is the main rabi crop, the harvesting of which will begin from end of next month. The government has projected a record wheat output of 112.18 million tonnes in the 2022-23 crop year (July-June).
