Vikram Solar on Wednesday said it has secured a 150 MW solar module supply order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd. The leading solar PV module manufacturer in a statement said it has bagged an order for a major renewable power project of 150 MW from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (MAHAGENCO), a government of Maharashtra undertaking. The company will provide 150 MW of advanced N-Type Modules. The modules will be supplied in the districts of Jalgaon and Solapur in the state of Maharashtra to MAHAGENCO under Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) project 2.0. The BJP-led government, however, clarified it had given an advertisement for a tender of works worth Rs 1.5 crore for the proposed cabinet meeting, but the amount was published "incorrectly" as Rs 150 crore. Former Congress MLA Sangram Thopte on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with his supporters from Bhor taluka in Pune district. Nearly a year after the Porsche car crash involving a teenage driver in Pune, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) on Monday suspended the licences of two doctors who were arrested for their alleged involvement in tampering with evidence in the case. Dr Ajay Taware and Dr Shrihari Halnor, working at government-run Sassoon General Hospital at the time of the incident, were accused of manipulating blood samples of the underage driver involved in the crash in which two software professionals were killed. "After both doctors were booked for allegedly swapping the juvenile's blood samples with those of his mother, the MMC took suo motu (on its own) cognisance and sought an explanation from them. "However, since they have been in (jail under) judicial custody, a personal hearing could not be held. Based on reports from various committees and the Pune police, the council has suspended their licences until the final outcome (of case) ," said Dr Vinky Rughwani, administrator of the MMC. .
Mahindra Logistics on Monday reported 67 per cent year-on-year jump in standalone profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 13.12 crore in three months to March over the same period last year. The standalone PAT for the March quarter of 2023-24 was recorded at Rs 7.86 crore, Mahindra Logistics Ltd said in a statement. Standalone revenue for the quarter under review stood at Rs 1,293 crore as compared to Rs 1,183 crore in the March quarter of FY 24. For the full fiscal 2024-25, standalone PAT declined 30 per cent to Rs 43.50 crore from Rs 61.98 crore in FY24 while revenue for the April-March period of last fiscal stood at Rs 5,013 crore from Rs 4,530 crore, a growth of 10 per cent year-on-year, in the same period year-ago, the company said. Three persons were killed and 12 others injured after a truck crashed into five vehicles on the old Pune-Mumbai highway near Lonavla hill station here in Maharashtra, police said on Monday. The incident took place at 10.20 pm on Sunday at Battery Hill near Bor Ghat. The truck apparently suffered a brake failure while descending a slope. It then ran amok and hit five vehicles, a police official said. "A 10-year-old girl and her father, who were travelling in a car, and another person died in the accident," Lonavla police station's senior inspector Suhas Jagtap said. Twelve other persons were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital where they were currently undergoing treatment, he added.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed concerns over the "imposition" of the Hindi language in the state on Sunday, asserting that Marathi will continue to be compulsory. In a bid to decongest Mumbai, the Maharashtra government is planning to develop sea routes with water taxi services in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), a state minister has said. A detailed project report (DPR) for this has been prepared, Ports Minister Nitesh Rane told PTI here on Tuesday. 'We have seen the success of Mumbai Metro. On those lines, we will be starting water taxis in the MMR. We have already identified eight to nine routes," he said. "We have the DPR and are speaking to international consultants," the minister said. The government will also introduce 30-seater electric vessels from the Gateway of India to Alibaug and the Elephanta Island, he said. Rane said 15 vessels are being procured from Candela Cruise, a Swedish company, and two of them will arrive in August.
