Rajasthan: Neem Ka Thana-Kotputli road to be built as a four-lane highway

The Rajasthan government has sanctioned Rs 178 crore to widen the Neem Ka Thana-Kotputli road to make it a four-lane highway. The state government is developing a high-quality road network in the state. For this, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a financial proposal of Rs 178 crore for increasing the width of Neem Ka Thana-Kotputli road, an official statement said on Saturday. With this, a road divider will be constructed by making 4 lanes of 38 km-long road from Neem police station to Kotputli. In the state budget 2023-24, the chief minister had announced plans to convert this road into a four-lane highway. Meanwhile, the state government has also sanctioned Rs 14.25 crore for setting up sports academies in seven districts. Football academies will be set up in Kolida of Sikar and Banswara districts, a cycling academy will be developed in Bikaner, a wrestling academy in Bhilwara, an athletics academy in Rajgarh (Churu), and basketball academies in Barmer and Sikar

Delhi govt working on food truck policy, will put for public feedback soon

The Delhi Government is working on its food truck policy which will be finalised within the next couple of months and put up for public feedback, officials said. According to officials, meetings have been planned with different stakeholders to discuss the various aspects of the policy. The stakeholders include the MCD, DMRC, traffic police and the Transport Department, they said. "We have identified metro stations and parking sites as hubs for setting up food trucks. But it will have to be seen under which category these trucks can be placed by the Transport department and also the rules governing their plying in Delhi, the official said. We will also need the Delhi Metro and the MCD to be on board since we plan to station these food trucks at metro stations and parking sites," he said. Road transport sector contributes to max delayed projects: Govt report

The road transport and highways sector has the maximum number of delayed projects at 402, followed by railways at 115 and the petroleum industry at 86, showed a government report. In the road transport and highways sector, 402 out of 749 projects are delayed. For railways, out of 173 projects, 115 are delayed, while in the petroleum sector, 86 out of 145 projects are running behind schedule, as per the latest flash report on infrastructure projects for March 2023. The Infrastructure and Project Monitoring Division (IPMD) is mandated to monitor central sector infrastructure projects costing Rs 150 crore and above based on the information provided on the Online Computerised Monitoring System (OCMS) by the project implementing agencies. MoRTH plans to raise Rs 35,000 cr through asset monetisation in FY23

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) plans to raise Rs 35,000 crore through various modes of asset monetisation in this financial year, against Rs 32,855-crore target in the last fiscal, a senior government official said on Sunday. Currently, MoRTH monetises its assets under three different modes viz toll-operate-transfer (TOT) model, Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) and project-based financing, in order to provide all categories of investors an opportunity to invest in assets pertaining to highways and associated infrastructure. Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) is an instrument on the pattern of mutual funds, designed to pool money from investors and invest in assets that will provide cash flows over a period of time. Elaborating further, the official told PTI that while Rs 15,000 crore is planned to be raised in 2023-24 via project-based financing of high-speed corridors by securitising the future toll revenues without any guidance from the authority,

Road Ministry targets construction of 12,500 km of highways in FY24

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has put plans in place to maintain the pace of highway development and construct 12,500 km of highways in the current financial year, a senior official on Wednesday said. Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary, MoRTH, said Rs 10,000 crore is planned to be raised through Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) mode in FY 2023-24. "MoRTH has put plans in place to maintain the pace of highway development, with a strong pipeline of projects across the country. "For 2023-24, MoRTH has taken up targets to award 12,000 km and construct 12,500 km of highways in the country," she told PTI. Construction of national highways at 10,993 kms in 2022-23, says MoRTH

The construction of national highways in 2022-23 was 10,993 kilometres, falling 13.70 per cent short of the government's target of 12,500 km, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) latest data. The ministry awarded highways of 12,375 km length in the last financial year. While the pace of the construction of national highways (NH) in the country touched a record high of 37 kilometre a day in 2020-21, it slowed to 30.11 kilometre a day in 2022-23. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) are primarily responsible for the construction of national highways and expressways in India. Centre approves Rs 318 cr for Tanakpur-Pithoragarh all-weather road

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has allocated Rs 318 crore for the construction of 150-km-long Tanakpur-Pithoragarh all-weather road. NHAI Executive Engineer Sunil Kumar said the approval has been given for the construction of the road on NH-9 which will be done in four phases. "We will first repair 49 landslide-prone spots on the strategically important road so that landslides can be prevented from happening and the road can stay open even during the monsoon," Kumar said. He said the proposal has been finalised on the basis of a report prepared by expert agency THDL, which has been appointed the supervisor for the project by the ministry. The central government had in 2016 approved the Tanakpur-Pithoragarh stretch, which is part of the bigger road project traversing the 'Char Dham' pilgrim spots being built at the cost of Rs 12,000 crore.

More than 278,000 EVs registered in India in Jan-March 2023: Gadkari

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said more than 2.78 lakh electric vehicles have been registered in the country in 2023 calendar year so far. Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are in the process of migrating to Vahan portal and hence their data on EV registration is partially included while Telangana and Lakshadweep data is not available on the portal, Gadkari said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. According to the data on the portal, the registration of electric vehicles (EVs) in India rose to 10,20,679 in 2022 from 3,29,808 in 2021. Replying to a separate question, Gadkari said National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has planted 344.27 lakh tress under Green Highways Policy during the period 2016-17 to 2022-23 (up to February 2023).
