Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said that as much as 90 per cent civil work of the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) is complete, and the bridge will be open for traffic in November this year. This "longest sea bridge in the country" will be the first to have Open Road Tolling (ORT) system, an official release quoted him as saying. Once the bridge opens for traffic, it will be possible to travel from Sewri in central Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai in 15-20 minutes, Shinde said. Vehicles won't have to stop on the bridge for paying toll thanks to the Open Tolling System, he said. This system is currently used in Singapore, officials of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said. Ahmedabad sees maximum rise in office supply last yr among 9 cities: CBRE

Ahmedabad saw the maximum increase in fresh supply of office space in 2022 among the nine major cities, with more than a five-fold jump to 4.6 million square feet, according to CBRE India. In its latest report on the office market, CBRE India mentioned that the new supply of office space during the 2022 calendar year rose 2 per cent to 50.6 million square feet from 49.7 million square feet in the previous year. While Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad markets witnessed an increase in office supply, the report pointed out that supply in five cities Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Kochi declined last year. As per the data, the new office supply in Ahmedabad jumped by over 400 per cent to 4.6 million square feet in 2022 from 0.9 million square feet in the preceding year. Not only in percentage terms, but Ahmedabad also topped in an absolute increase in fresh supply with an addition of 3.7 million square feet area last year. Rishabh Pant successfully undergoes knee surgery at Mumbai hospital

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who miraculously escaped a horrific car accident last week, has successfully undergone a knee surgery at a Mumbai hospital, according to the BCCI sources. "Rishabh Pant has successfully undergone a knee ligament surgery on Friday. He will be under observation. Further course of action and rehabilitation will be advised by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala and followed by the BCCI sports science and medicine team," a BCCI source told PTI. The surgery took place at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Andheri West under the supervision of Dr Pardiwala, the head of the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service. Mumbai reports nine new Covid-19 cases in a day; active tally now 29

Mumbai on Friday reported nine COVID-19 cases, which took the tally here to 11,55,151, while the death toll stood unchanged at 19,746, a civic official said. The addition to the tally is a slight rise from the seven cases reported a day earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said. The recovery count increased by five to touch 11,35,376, leaving the metropolis with 29 active cases, he added. As per BMC data, the recovery rate was 98.3 per cent, while the caseload doubling time was 2,18,342 days. So far, 1,86,49,078 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the city, including 2,612 in the last 24 hours. The overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases between December 30 to January 5 is 0.0003 per cent, as per civic data.

Star India batter Rishabh Pant will be shifted from Dehradun hospital to a Mumbai hospital where he will undergo extensive treatment for his ligament injuries in the knee and ankle, sources in the BCCI said on Wednesday. "Rishabh is being shifted to Mumbai for diagnosis and treatment of his ligament injuries and decide upon the further course of action. He is expected to be under the supervision of BCCI-empanelled renowned sports orthopaedic Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala. 6,000 police personnels to guard Mumbai rail network on New Year's Eve

More than 6,000 personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) have been deployed on Mumbai's suburban railway network to prevent untoward incidents and ensure people's safety on New Year's Eve, an official said on Friday. According to a release issued by the GRP, two deputy police commissioners, four assistant police commissioners, 114 police officers, Home Guards and Maharashtra Security Force personnel will be deployed. Nirbhaya teams, comprising women police constables and officers in plain clothes, will ensure the safety of female passengers, it said. Armed police personnel, Home Guards or Maharashtra security force personnel will be deputed in ladies coaches of all special trains announced by the Railways for December 31, between 9 pm and 5 am, the release said. The Railways will operate two special locals between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan on the Central line, two special trains between CSMT and Panvel on Harbour and eight special locals between
