NCB seizes mephedrone worth more than Rs 120 cr from Mumbai, Gujarat

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 60 kg mephedrone drug worth more than Rs 120 crore from Mumbai and Gujarat, and arrested six members of an inter-state drug cartel, including a former Air India pilot, a senior official said here on Friday. The action was taken based on specific inputs received by the Naval Intelligence unit at Jamnagar in Gujarat, said Sanjay Singh, Deputy Director General of the NCB in a press briefing here. "We have cracked a drug network spread across various states of the country and arrested six persons involved in the syndicate," he said. Following the tip-off, the officials from the NCB headquarters in Delhi and its Mumbai zonal unit conducted a raid at Jamnagar on Monday and seized 10 kg mephedrone, he said. The NCB team arrested one person from Jamnagar and three others from Mumbai in this connection, Singh added. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 60 kg mephedrone drug worth more than Rs 120 crore from Mumbai and Gujarat and arrested six persons, including a former Air India pilot, a senior official said on Friday. Mumbai sees 80 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death, 99 recoveries in a day

Mumbai on Thursday reported 80 COVID-19 cases and one death, which took the tally here to 11,50,908 and the toll to 19,734, a civic official said. The addition to the tally was below the 100-mark after two days, with Wednesday seeing 127 cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official pointed out. Of the new cases, only three are symptomatic, the official added. The recovery count rose by 99 and touched 11,30,399, leaving the metropolis with an active caseload of 775, he said. As per BMC data, the recovery count stood at 98.2 per cent and the overall growth rate of cases between September 29 and October 5 was 0.009 per cent. So far, 1,83,40,080 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Mumbai, including 3,370 in the last 24 hours, lower than the 6,713 samples examined in the preceding 24-hour period. The caseload doubling time is 8,468 days, as per official data.

Mumbai logs 127 Covid-19 cases, no fresh death; active tally at 795

Mumbai on Wednesday reported 127 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall tally to 11,50,828, while no fresh death due to the infection was recorded in the metropolis, the city civic body said. The death toll remained unchanged at 19,733. The city has reported more than 100 COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day. On Tuesday, the financial capital had logged 155 COVID-19 cases, but zero fatalities. The new COVID-19 cases were detected after 6,713 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 1,83,36,710, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin said. A day ago, 4,387 coronavirus tests were conducted in the city. The tally of recuperated cases rose to 11,30,300 after 116 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness in the last 24 hours, said the bulletin. Mumbai: 5 dead as car crashes into accident site on Bandra-Worli Sea Link

Five persons were killed and eight injured when a car crashed into an accident site and hit three stationary cars and an ambulance on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link here on Wednesday early morning, police said. The deceased worked for the private firm which managed the toll booth on the bridge, said an official of the firm. The fatal accident took place around 3 am between pole numbers 76 and 78 on the south-bound carriageway of the bridge which connects Bandra in the western suburbs to Worli in south Mumbai. Footage of the crash was recorded by CCTV cameras. Car hits multiple vehicles on Bandra-Worli Sea Link; 5 killed, 8 injured

Five people were killed and eight others injured after a speeding car rammed into three other stationary cars and an ambulance on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai on Wednesday, police said. The accident took place around 3 am between pole numbers 76 and 78 on the south-bound stretch of the sea link bridge, which connects Bandra in western suburbs to Worli in south Mumbai. A car initially hit a divider on the bridge and an ambulance was rushed to the spot for assistance. The occupants of two other cars also halted their vehicles to provide help, they said. At that time, another car coming from behind rammed into three stationary cars and the ambulance, a senior police official said. Thirteen people, including a woman and a Sea Link employee, were injured and five of them were later declared dead during treatment, he said. Six of the injured were undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Two others were allowed to go after being treated for minor injuries, the police said.

Mumbai on Tuesday recorded 155 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 11,50,701, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The toll remained unchanged at 19,733, while the count of recoveries rose to 11,30,184 after 85 patients recovered from the infection, he said. There has been a slight increase in the daily cases, as the city had on Monday recorded 66 infections. As per a bulletin issued by the civic body, 4,387 swab samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests carried out in the city to 1,83,29,997. With a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent, Mumbai is left with 784 active cases, of which only 12 patients are symptomatic. Mumbai on Monday recorded 66 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 11,50,546, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. DRI busts international drugs racket in Mumbai, Rs 2.36 cr ganja seized

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has unearthed an international smuggling racket of drugs in a multi-agency coordinated operation across three states.Based on intelligence input, officers of DRI, Mumbai seized 3.5 Kg of hydroponic weed from a US-origin postal consignment fabricated as 'food items' at the Foreign Post Office, Mumbai. Email threat to blow up IndiGo flight turns out to be hoax, case registered

A case was registered after an unidentified person sent an email to the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) threatening to blow up a flight of IndiGo airline, a Mumbai police official said on Sunday. Mumbai on Saturday reported 130 COVID-19 cases and one death, which took the tally in the metropolis to 11,50,378 and the toll to 19,732, a civic official said. The addition to the tally was above the 100-mark for the fourth day in a row and slightly more than the 115 cases recorded on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added.
