Only 13 out of 58 'turncoats' leading, says EC data

Jumping parties did not augur well for 'turncoats' as only 13 of 58 such prominent candidates are leading on their respective seats, according to the Election Commission data. Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who joined Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha election, was trailing by over 1.50 lakh votes from his nearest rival Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar. In nearby Madhepura, former JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, who joined RJD before polls, was lagging by over 1.30 lakh votes from Dinesh Chandra Yadav of JD(U). Tariq Anwar, who switched from Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to Congress, is also trailing by over 40,000 votes from Katihar. Cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad is trailing from Dhanbad by nearly 1.6 lakh votes. He had joined Congress from BJP. TRS leads in nine , BJP-4, Cong-3 seats in Telangana

The ruling TRS party established an edge in nine Lok Sabha segments even as the BJP appeared to be on course to make smart gains by leading in four seats as per the latest trends available at 5 PM Thursday. The Congress also appeared to be on the way to improve its performance, as its candidates are leading in three seats. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi was ahead in Hyderabad seat, where he is seeking re-election for the fourth successive time, according to Election Commission sources. Jharkhand: BJP-Ajsu alliance ahead in 12 of 14 seats

The BJP-Ajsu Party alliance is comfortably striding ahead in twelve out of 14 seats in Jharkhand, while the Mahagathbandhan allies -- the Congress and the JMM -- are leading in one constituency each, according to the latest EC trends. In 2014, the saffron party had won 12 constituencies, with the JMM bagging just two seats. According to the EC, Union minister and BJP candidate Jayant Sinha is surging ahead of his nearest rival and Congress nominee Gopal Prasad Sahu in Hazaribag by a huge margin of 2,97,826 votes. His party colleague and Union minister Sudarshan Bhagat, who was trailing in the initial rounds, is now taking the lead against Congress candidate Sukhdeo Bhagat by 7,042 votes from Lohardaga (ST). YSRC leads in 22 LS seats in AP

The YSR Congress is leading in 22 Lok Sabha seats and the TDP in three, according to Election Commission trends at 5 pm. The TDP, BJP and Congress are nowhere in the picture. BJP wins Bahraich seat in UP by over 1.28 lakh votes

The first result in Uttar Pradesh went in favour of BJP's Akshyawar Lal in Bahraich, who defeated his nearest SP-BSP-RLD alliance nominee Shabbir Balmiki. District Magistrate Shambhu Kumar said Lal defeated his nearest rival Shabbir Balmiki by a margin of over 1.28 lakh votes. Lal polled 5,25,512 votes, while Balmiki got 3,96,843 votes. Polling agents not allowed to check EVMs, alleges Patole

Congress candidate from Nagpur, Nana Patole, who is trailing behind Union minister and BJP candidate Nitin Gadkari, Thursday alleged that the polling agents were not allowed to check the electronic voting machines (EVMs).
