Murder of dreams: Rahul slams BRS over woman job aspirant's suicide

The Congress on Saturday slammed the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS government in Telangana over the alleged suicide of a 23-year-old woman preparing for competitive exams, with Rahul Gandhi saying this was not a suicide but murder of the dreams and aspirations of youths. Gandhi alleged that in the last 10 years, "BJP Rishtedar Samithi BRS and BJP together have ruined the state with their incompetence". "The Congress government in Telangana will release a job calendar, reorganise TSPSC on the lines of UPSC in 1 month and fill 2 lakh vacant government posts within a year - this is a guarantee," he said. The 23-year-old woman, who was preparing for competitive exams, allegedly died by suicide at her hostel in Ashok Nagar in Hyderabad, sparking protests by government job aspirants against the BRS dispensation. As soon as news of the woman's death broke on Friday night, a large number of students staged protests in the area and raised slogans against the state government. Congress ...

Rahul Gandhi running 'Jhooth Ki Dukaan', says MP CM Chouhan

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who talks about Mohabbat Ki Dukaan (shop of love), actually runs Jhooth Ki Dukaan (shop of lies). Chouhan, in a statement, said Gandhi, while addressing a gathering in the poll-bound state, only dished out lies. Earlier in the day, the Congress MP addressed a rally at Beohari in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, where assembly polls will be held on November 17. "Rahul Gandhi talks about 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' but actually he runs 'Jhooth KI Dukaan' and he lied at the rally also," Chouhan said. The CM said Gandhi, at the gathering, was actually counting "dark deeds" done by Congress governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan because every section of society in Madhya Pradesh is happy due to welfare programmes and development works of the BJP government in the last nearly two decades. The Congress MP had promised a farm loan waiver during the 2018 elections in MP and vowed to remove ...

I'm for caste census 100%; it's like X-Ray that will help: Rahul Gandhi

Asserting that he is "100 per cent" in support of a caste census, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has likened the exercise with an "X-Ray" and said it would give a clear picture of how many Dalits, tribals, OBCs and upper castes are there which in turn would help in deciding the future course of action. Gandhi made the remarks on September 23 during his interaction with the students of the Maharani College in Jaipur, a video of which was released on his social media platforms on Tuesday. Gandhi was received by the college principal. After his interaction with the students, the party leader rode pillion on a two-wheeler driven by a girl student amid security on the road outside the college. In his interaction with the girls at the college, Gandhi talked about a host of issues, including the education system and the need for empowering women in the country, according to the video. Asked about the caste census, Gandhi said, "The fact is that the lower caste communities, the OBCs, Dalits

Rahul acted in consonance with people's sentiment on caste census: Congress

The Congress on Monday said Rahul Gandhi decided to take forward the demand for a caste census by the backward class people he met during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the party leadership has endorsed this move. In a post in Hindi on X, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, there was one thing which almost all the backward class people of every state sought which was that there should be a caste census in the country. "Rahul ji acted in consonance with the sentiments of the people and the Congress leadership endorsed it," Ramesh said. His remarks came ahead of the crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting here at the AICC headquarters. The Congress has taken a stand to push for the caste census. After Bihar released the findings of a caste census in the state, Congress-ruled Rajasthan issued orders on Saturday for holding a similar exercise. In Chhattisgarh too, the Congress has announced that it will conduct a caste survey if it is v

Congress leader moves court against Nadda, Malviya over poster on Rahul

A Congress leader has filed a petition in a court against BJP national president JP Nadda and party's IT cell incharge Amit Malviya over a social media post by the saffron party, showing party leader Rahul Gandhi as 'a new age Ravan'. In his petition, general secretary of Congress' Rajasthan unit, Jaswant Gurjar, has pleaded that a case be registered against both BJP leaders under IPC Section 499 (false imputation against another person), 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult). Gurjar has filed the petition at Jaipur Metropolitan Court-11. The court has decided to hear the arguments on the plea on October 9. A photograph of Gandhi morphed as Ravan in a poster put out from the Bharatiya Janata Party's official handle on X has stirred a controversy, triggering strong criticism from the Congress, which has called it unacceptable and "downright dangerous". "The petition has been admitted by the court and the hearing for the case has been scheduled on October 9," Gurjar said. "The

Rahul's model of promising and then not fulfilling has failed: Thakur

Union minister Anurag Thakur has hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his model of giving "false" promises to assume power and then not fulfilling the guarantees has failed in the states ruled by the grand old party. His criticism comes in the wake of Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, during their recent visits to poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, giving several guarantees if their party is voted to power in the state. The Congress has announced free and subsidised power, implementation of the old pension scheme, farm loan waiver, Rs 1,500 per month to women and some other guarantees. "These guarantees failed in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, they (Congress leaders) are not able to show their face there. There was an outcry in Madhya Pradesh when their government was in power," Thakur told reporters on Friday night here in response to a question. He alleged that the Congress government in these states failed to waive farm loans and provide .
