Accusing the Rajasthan government of being the most corrupt, the BJP's election in-charge for the state Pralhad Joshi on Sunday claimed new scams and rape cases come to the fore every day under the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress dispensation. Sixteen per cent of the cases of atrocities and murders registered in the country are from Rajasthan, the Union minister alleged. He was in Jaipur for a meeting with party workers for the assembly elections due later this year. "The Rajasthan government is the most corrupt government in the country. Rajasthan is on top in number of rape cases. Recruitment exam papers have been leaked more than 16 times," Joshi told reporters here. He said development work has stalled and a BJP government is needed in the state. If Chief Minister Gehlot wanted to do good for the poor then why did he not do so in four-and-a-half years, Joshi asked. Instilling confidence among the BJP workers, he said the party will form the government in the state with a two-thirds

The senior Congress leader claimed PM Modi's respect among the common people is also on the wane as his party "turns against" him because of his "approach". Gehlot targeted Modi for his attacks on the Congress over dynastic politics and his call for a Congress-free India. "Making the country Congress-free will never happen," Gehlot said. "The Congress is in every house of the country, while the condition of their party (BJP) is getting worse." "There is a split in their party. Modiji's respect is waning within his party. This should be a matter of concern for Modi ji himself. The respect that he earlier enjoyed among the public has also decreased," he said. The BJP has often took potshots at Chief Minister Gehlot over the infighting in the Rajasthan Congress. Addressing a rally in the state's Mount Abu in May, PM Modi had sai

Amid a row over reports suggesting that Congress-ruled Rajasthan is planning to build two dams upstream of the Dharoi dam, the Gujarat government has registered its protests saying the project would violate a water-sharing agreement. Gujarat Water Resources Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya told reporters on Friday he has written to the Rajasthan government over its plans to build dams on Sabarmati and Sei rivers near the border of both states. Concerns have been expressed that if such a plan is implemented, the Dharoi dam won't get any water. According to Bavaliya, Rajasthan should adhere to the water-sharing agreement signed when Dharoi dam on Sabarmati river was built in Mehsana district of Gujarat over 40 years ago. While Sabarmati river originates from Rajasthan, Sei river is a tributary which eventually merges with Sabarmati before it enters north Gujarat, where Dharoi dam is situated. Water should be distributed as per the water treaty signed by both states in the past, said the ..
