Gehlot inaugurates Kaliteer lift, Silavat Anicut projects in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday inaugurated Kaliteer lift project and the Silavat Anicut project in the Dholpur district. On this occasion, he called upon the people to conserve water and adopt more farming methods with less water. Gehlot laid the foundation stone of the Kaliteer lift project and inaugurated the Silavat Anicut project through video conferencing from his residence. Rajasthan govt allots Rs 31 cr to Ajmer to boost its water supply system

The Rajasthan government Wednesday said it has sanctioned over Rs 31 crore for strengthening the water supply infrastructure in Ajmer city. The financial sanction of Rs 31.14 crore approved by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will be used to ensure a smooth water supply in Ajmer and renovate old pipelines or build new ones, an official statement said. In the state budget for 2023-24, Gehlot had made a provision for various works to boost the water supply infrastructure of Ajmer. Under this project, Rs 12 crore will be spent in 2023-24, Rs 16 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 3.14 crore in 2025-26, the statement said. Other financial approvals by the government include a sanction of Rs 2.21 crore for beautification projects in the Sirohi district, the statement added. The tourism department will spend Rs 1.62 crore for revamping the Dudiya Talab and the remaining amount will be used to construct a ghat near the Isbor Mahadev Temple in the district, the government said.

The Rajasthan government will allot land for Vyapar Mandal offices in all mandis in the state free of cost, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Tuesday. Gehlot said that the holistic development of the state, efficient financial management and participation of traders in the state's revenue are important. He said that it is time to make mandis hi-tech, which will facilitate traders as well as farmers and consumers. Rajasthan minister inaugurates 33 air quality monitoring stations

Rajasthan Forest and Environment Minister Hemaram Chaudhary flagged off a public awareness rally on World Environment Day today and inaugurated 33 new air quality monitoring stations in the state, officials said. The minister also laid the foundation stone of Integrated Resource Recovery Park at Tholai in Jamwa Ramgarh area in the district, a statement said. Two thousand saplings were also distributed free of cost by the forest department, it said. Addressing a programme organised by the State Pollution Control Board, Chaudhary said that single-use plastic has been banned in the state for a safe future and for pollution control. The Rajasthan government's new forest policy promotes planting as many more trees as possible, the minister said via videoconferencing. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday accused the Centre of misusing its investigative agencies and said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches in the state were "anticipated" as the assembly elections are approaching. The ED conducted searches at multiple locations in Rajasthan during the day in connection with a money laundering investigation into an alleged exam paper leak case for recruitment of government teachers in the state, according to sources in New Delhi. Illegal mining in Aravallis behind increased sandstorms in Rajasthan: Study

The disappearance of the hills in the Aravalli range as a result of illegal mining, land encroachment and urbanisation has led to an increase in sandstorms in Rajasthan, according to a study by the Central University Rajasthan. The study, done by Professor Sharma and PhD scholar Alok Raj, was titled Assessment of land-use dynamics of the Aravalli range (India) using integrated geospatial and CART approach. It was recently published in the international journal Earth Science Informatics'. "The disappearance of hills is one of the reasons behind rising sandstorms. Evidence suggests that places which saw the vanishing hills, like Bharatpur, Dholpur, Jaipur, and Chittorgarh, have been facing more sandstorms than usual," said LK Sharma, professor and HOD Environmental Science at CURAJ.
