Odisha on path to become leader in skill development, says CM Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Monday said the state is on track to become a leader in skill development. He made the announcement while congratulating two local youths for their outstanding achievements at the 47th World Skills Competition held in Lyon, France, from September 10 to 15. The two youths are Amaresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil. Sahu earned a bronze medal in renewable energy, while Akhil received a medallion for excellence in water technology, bringing pride to Odisha on the global stage. Praising the achievements, Majhi in a statement said, "The accomplishments of our skilled youth at the World Skills Competition are a source of immense pride for Odisha. Their success exemplifies the state's commitment to nurturing young talent and developing skills that meet global standards." MSDE, Swiggy tie up to provide skilling, employment opportunities

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Swiggy on Saturday launched an initiative to provide skilling and employment opportunities within Swiggy's food delivery and the quick commerce network. The partnership will benefit 2.4 lakh delivery partners and staff of restaurant partners associated with Swiggy. The initiative will provide employment, internship and training opportunities for people in restaurant operations, and various aspects of retail management. Under the Swiggy Skills initiative, its delivery partner platform will be integrated with Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), providing access to online skill development courses, certifications, and training modules to Swiggy's workforce. Suzuki Motor unveils Rs 340 crore fund to support social impact startups

Japanese automobile firm Suzuki Motor on Thursday launched its first investment fund in India--Next Bharat Ventures--a Rs 340 crore fund dedicated to fostering impact entrepreneurs who create value in Tier-II and below geographies. This Suzuki initiative aims to support social impact startups in the domains of agriculture, financial inclusion, rural supply chains, and rural mobility, through a residency programme. "Next Bharat will invest in growth-stage impact firms and early-stage impact entrepreneurs through its flagship residency programme. HCLTech, IBM join hands for GenAI centre to provide tailored AI solutions

IT services company HCL Technologies and tech giant IBM on Tuesday announced a new collaboration to establish a Generative AI Centre of Excellence. Alongwith IBM, HCLTech aims to train 10,000 of its engineers and architects in IBM's AI technologies, specifically 'watsonx'. IBM's watsonx is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data platform built for business. According to a release, the centre will be available through HCLTech's AI and cloud native labs in Noida, London and New Jersey and Santa Clara in the US. It will help enterprises modernise legacy applications, develop IT service management use cases, reduce coding complexity, improve skill development on the watsonx platform and enable continuous innovation.
