India to play 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20I against Windies

The first Test will be played from October 4 to October 8 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, followed by a match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium from October 12 to October 16.Following the Test series, India will head into the ODI series against the Caribbean side, with the opening match slated to be held in Guwahati on October 21. The other four ODIs will take place in Indore (October 24), Pune (October 27), Mumbai (October 29th) and Thiruvananthapuram (November 1).After a two-day break, the Indian side will once again gear up for the T20 series as they will play their first limited-over format game on November 4 at Kolkata. The last two games of the series will be played at Lucknow (November 6) and Chennai (November 11).Currently, India are playing in a five-match Test series against England and are trailing 1-3.

Pakistan drop Mohammad Hafeez from Asia Cup squad

ONGC to face stiff challenge in MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey

Defending champion Oil and Natural Gas Corporation team will face stiff challenge from IOC,Indian Navy, Railways and Punjab & Sind Bank in the 92nd edition of the MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey tournament, which kicks off at Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium here on September 6. Though members of the Indian squad which played in the recent Asian Games in Jakarta won't be seen in action here, the teams boast of a number of former internationals, the organisers said at a press conference Tuesday. Zimbabwe head-coach Lalchand Rajput's son Akhil is all set to play for debutants Mizoram as an outstation player in the upcoming Ranji Trophy. Pakistan left all-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Imad Wasim out of a 16-man squad for the six-nation Asia Cup, to be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from next week, selectors announced Tuesday. But left-handed opener Shan Masood gets his first chance in Pakistan's one-day squad after scoring 1,200-plus runs in the two domestic one-day tournaments, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said. The 28-year-old has so far played 12 Tests for Pakistan. Mumbai City FC sign Arnold Issoko from Congo

Mumbai City FC has completed their last international signing for the upcoming Indian Super League season by inducting 26-year-old Arnold Nkufo Issoko from Congo into their squad. The club made the announcement Tuesday. Arnold caught the eye of head coach Jorge Costa when he made his senior debut for Rebordosa AC in Portugal. The midfielder sharpened his skills in various lower divisions in the same country before graduating to the Primiera Liga with GD Chaves. Government felicitates Asiad medal winners with cash awards

The government on Tuesday felicitated the medal winners of the 18th Asian Games with cash awards after the country registered its best-ever medal haul in the history of the continental mega sporting event. While individual gold medal winners were given away Rs 40 lakh, the silver and bronze winners took home Rs 20 and Rs 10 lakh each. India registered its best ever medal haul in the history of the Asian Games, fetching 69 medals which included 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze. Swapna Barman may have become the first Indian heptathlete to win a gold at the Asian Games but she rues that she could not achieve her best in some of the events, which made the contest a tight one in the end. "I could not do my best in high jump, 200m, 100m hurdles. High jump is the event I used to do the best. But it did not happen in Jakarta. COA clears BCCI acting president's Asia Cup trip, officials surprised

In a shift from their much-publicised stance, the Committee of Administrators (COA) has sanctioned a 10-day trip of acting president CK Khanna to watch the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE, starting September 15. While there had been a convention of senior BCCI office-bearers travelling for tournaments at board's expense, the COA, in one of its directives, had made it clear that unless the acting president, acting secretary, treasurer or CEO are doing board's work, no tours will be sanctioned. Asian Games gold-medallist Tejinderpal Singh Toor's father, who died of cancer before he could meet the triumphant shot-putter, will be cremated on Thursday. Karam Singh, 54, breathed his last on Monday at a military hospital in Panchkula. He was suffering from cancer for the past few years and Toor had spoken about his struggle to manage his career in view of his father's ailment after winning the Asiad gold in Jakarta.
