Airlines operations return to normal after systems restored from IT outage

Airlines operations across airports, which were impacted due to a global IT outage on Friday, returned to normalcy on Saturday with all services from ticket bookings to reservations and issuing of boarding passes going back completely to the online mode, sources said. Earlier in the day, Union Minister for Civil Aviation K Ram Mohan Naidu said that the airline systems have started working normally, and all issues were likely to be resolved by noon on Saturday. All operations are back to normal. All our services including bookings and reservations are online since Friday late evening, said an airline executive. System is restored and there is no disruption in our services. It is getting back to normalcy, said a senior executive from a budget airline. There has been a 33 per cent increase in the hiring and the creation of posts of chief digital and information officers (CDIOs) in the recent past following rapid advancements in technology, according to a study. The spike has been triggered by the transformation of the roles of chief information officers (CIOs) into those of CDIOs, it said. The study is based on WalkWater's analysis drawn from a survey among profiles of 310 CIOs and CDIOs across 272 companies. In the landscape of modern business, the role of CIOs has undergone a profound evolution, transforming into what is now widely recognised as the CDIO, a study by executive search firms WalkWater Talent Advisors has revealed.
