Paris Saint Germain has suffered a double injury blow ahead of the Champions League start with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue both ruled out for weeks. Dembele will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury, PSG said Saturday. Doue will be out for around four weeks with a calf strain, the Champions League winner confirmed. Dembele limped off the field in France's World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on Friday, with Doue also injured in the game. PSG said Dembele had sustained a serious injury to his right hamstring. Doue strained his right calf. The injuries come less than two weeks before PSG begins the defense of its Champions League title against Atalanta on Sept. 17. The French champion goes to Barcelona, Dembele's former club, two weeks later on Oct. 1.

Crystal Palace has taken its fight with UEFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sport by lodging an appeal against its demotion to the third-tier Conference League next season. The Switzerland-based CAS confirmed Tuesday that the Premier League club had filed an appeal against European soccer's governing body. An expedited process will produce a decision no later than Aug. 11, the court said. Palace secured qualification to the second-tier Europa League by winning the FA Cup last season its first major trophy in 120 years of existence. But UEFA demoted Palace after finding it in breach of multi-club ownership regulations because of its ties to French club Lyon through American businessman John Textor. Textor had a 43% stake in Palace and owns Lyon outright. UEFA rules state that clubs can be barred from its competitions if owners have decisive influence over two teams that have qualified. While Textor only had limited decision-making at Palace, UEFA deemed his involvement with Lyon

Luis Enrique got rid of the Galacticos at Paris Saint-Germain and then became one himself. The Spanish coach, or perhaps he should be called an architect or a visionary, orchestrated a 5-0 destruction of Inter Milan in Saturday's Champions League final. The match was so clinically one-sided that it resembled a training session against an amateur team, rather than a three-time European Cup winner. Passing, movement, energy. Tireless pressing, forwards dropping back to defend, wingers protecting fullbacks. Was this really PSG? Yes. All of these attributes were on display in Munich as Luis Enrique joined an elite list of coaches to win the Champions League with multiple clubs. His other success was with Barcelona in 2015 a 3-1 win against Juventus but Saturday was sweeter. This is the time for a great party and to make the most of this moment," Luis Enrique said. "I felt this connection with the players and the fans, I think it was a very strong connection throughout the season.

Paris Saint-Germain supporters displayed a banner saying "Stop genocide in Gaza" during the Champions League final on Saturday. They raised it shortly after Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring in a 5-0 rout of his former side Inter Milan. Some PSG fans also held Palestinian scarves and flags during the game. PSG fans are known for their stance against the war in Gaza. They previously displayed a giant banner saying "Free Palestine" in November during the Champions League match against Atltico Madrid. The latest banner was likely to lead to disquiet among local authorities in Munich. Munich's city hall displays an Israeli flag as well as a Ukrainian one, and German support for Israel is strong for historical reasons. PSG could also face a fine. UEFA bans the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit a provocative message that is judged not fit for a sports event, particularly provocative messages that are of a political, ideological, religious or offensive nature.
