In two separate raids here, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has caught 16 persons solving the Class 10 English question paper of the UP Board Examination, an official said on Saturday. The paper was scheduled for the morning shift (8.30 am to 11.45 am) of the Board examination on Friday. In the first instance, 14 people were found solving the question paper at the residence of a school principal, the official said. He said a Special Task Force team, along with District Inspector of Schools Balmukund Prasad, raided the Jagannath Singh Public Inter College at Katiyamau village in Hardoi district. Acting on a tip-off, they also raided the principal's residence located 3-4 kilometres away and found five men and nine women writing the answers. One of them introduced himself as a teacher of the school. The Special Task Force has recovered 20 answer sheets from them. The Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education on Saturday announced the board exam results, with Class 10 students recording a pass percentage of 89.55 while that for Class 12 was at 82.60. "Prachi Nigam of Sitapur district was the Class 10 topper with 98.50 per cent marks. Shubham Verma, also from Sitapur, stood first in the Class 12 exam with 97.80 per cent," Education (Secondary) Director Mahendra Dev told PTI. The board exams were held between February 22 and March 9 at 8,265 centres. The answer papers were checked between March 16 and 30, board officials said.

Girls outperformed boys in the high school and intermediate examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council this year, a senior official of the board said while announcing the results here on Tuesday. The pass percentage of girls in the high school examination was 93.34 per cent, while it was 86.64 per cent for the boys. In the intermediate examination, the pass percentage of boys was 69.34 per cent, while it was 83 per cent for girls. Priyanshi Soni of Sitapur topped the high school exam by scoring 98.33 per cent marks while Shubh Chhapra of Mahoba came first in the intermediate exam by scoring 97.80 per cent marks. Announcing the results, Mahendra Dev, the director of Secondary Education, said of the 28,63,621 candidates who appeared in the high school exam, 25,70,987 passed and the pass percentage was 89.78 per cent. He also said that 25,71,002 candidates appeared for the intermediate examination, of 19,41,717 candidates or 75.52 per cent passed. Chief .
