Engineering and manufacturing solutions provider Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) on Monday announced the launch of a new business division dedicated to manufacturing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). As part of the new division Wipro Electronic Materials, the company is establishing a Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka, with an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore, which will create around 350 jobs. The manufacturing plant will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates and corresponding pre-impregnated materials, according to a company statement. Lauak Group is a 50-year-old family-owned company supplying aircraft parts to major global aerospace companies. The company, however, did not divulge the quantum of stake and size of the deal. "Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a leading global engineering and manufacturing solutions provider and the Charritton Family, founders and current shareholders of Lauak Group, announced today at the Paris Air Show that they have entered into exclusive negotiations for a majority stake acquisition in the company. "The proposed transaction was submitted to the relevant employee representative bodies for consultation, and all necessary approvals have now been received," a company statement said. IT company Wipro on Monday said it has appointed Ranjita Ghosh as its new Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective February 1 next year. Ghosh takes the chair from Laura Langdon, who has decided to explore career opportunities outside Wipro, a company statement said. Previously CMO of Wipro's Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA) strategic market unit, Ghosh will now lead all marketing activities for Wipro across its geographies. She will report to the Chief Strategist & Technology Officer Hari Shetty. Wipro Hydraulics, part of homegrown Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, on Thursday said it has acquired the US-based Columbus Hydraulics to strengthen its presence in North American market. The company did not disclose the transaction value. The entity has been acquired to strengthen presence in the North American market, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering said in a statement. Wipro Infrastructure Engineering said it has acquired 100 stake in Columbus Hydraulics through its hydraulics cylinder manufacturing business Wipro Hydraulics. Post acquisition, Columbus Hydraulics will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering.
